32. DEMANDS,...DEMANDS
Robert ,   Israel   (03.17.14)
Abbas made our P.M. lower his pants and "give" him back assassins imprisoned in Israel. Now, in this trip to the U.S. he will try to convince American leaders to make Netanyahu lower his underwear and set free Barghouti and Ahmad Sa'adat. And after...., I can imagine what else he will demand.

Neither Obama nor Kerry can be considered the brightest bulbs in the chandelier. Moreover, like past American administrations, they would like nothing better than to see Israel destroyed. No one ever wanted to see the modern State of Israel established to begin with. No one seriously believed that Israel could withstand the Arab onslaught in 1947 -- they only held a partition vote because they knew it would pass and, after the horrors of the Holocaust, they felt the need to throw the Jews a bone. The rest, as they say, is history. We've been disappointing everyone since 1948, and have every intention of continuing to do so. Israel is here to stay.
34. Major disconnect with reality
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.17.14)
"PA president is expected to demand the release of additional prisoners - including Ahmad Sa'adat and Marwan Barghouti - in return for talks extension." Abbas seems to be under the impression that Israel is interested in extending futile talks. Well, Israel is not in the least bit interested -- we've gone down this road before, with the same results: Israel frees a lot of prisoners, and gets absolutely nothing in return. Israel is not interested in prolonging an exercise in futility. Neither will Israel consent to freeing Israeli Arabs. And Obama had better not even attempt to get Israel to do so, unless he is ready to pardon Jonathan Pollard. And he is not going to do that. Abbas has no leverage over the State of Israel. Neither does the United States. It's time to call a spade a spade, roll down our sleeves and go about the business of annexing Judea and Samaria, and repatriating all those undesirable aliens to Jordan, country of their citizenship.

Leon Klinghofer. His name was Leon Klinghofer, z"l, and he was a citizen of the United States. Two of the people with direct involvement in his murder are going to land in Washington D.C. very shortly. There is no statute of limitations on murder.
36. more "demands"
jer ,   magic kingdom, USA   (03.17.14)
NO! No more concessions, demands, or unnegotiated requirements. Just say NO. You wanna negotiate, face to face, with NO third parties, fine. Otherwise: NO period.
37. Obama weakness against the Israelis
El gato ,   USA   (03.17.14)
Abbas must not watch the news if he thinks Obama can force Israel to do anything. Obama and Kerry showed just how ineffective they are over the Crimea situation. We are seen as weaklings by everyone except the thug Abbas!
38. Admirable Abbas !
Gabe ,   Canada   (03.17.14)
He is gifted. He knows how to use malleable, weak, hesitant leaders sitting across him at the negotiating table. I wish we would come to our senses and get tough with him.
39. To: El Gato at No. 37
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.17.14)
It's because Abbas has had a front-row seat to incessant White House bullying and threatening of the State of Israel. Abbas is convinced that Obama has leverage over Israel. In that, he is severely mistaken.
