Does it boil down to either waiting to be attacked, or attacking BEFORE getting attacked by the adversary?

I admire the Jewish people , very strong. I sit at home worried about the little things in life ,which can be solved with a little faith , but the Jews everyday even when things are going good in there normal lives still has to worry about some suck people launching missiles at them or blowing themselves up in a public place. I don't know if i could handle that lifestyle day in and day out. May the lord forever bless the children of Israel.
