1. Supply & Demand. . . When Demand ^'s , prices ^, When
Moshe ,   Usa   (03.23.14)
When Demand falls . . . prices fall. When Supply ^'s . . . prices fall. When Supply falls . . . prices ^. Therefore, try to buy your bottle G-fish earlier. Buy several bottles. Put them in your refrigerator. They keep for a number of months. Eat, enjoy & G-d Bless you & your family.
2. Another Bser issuing some nonsensical statement...
Al   (03.23.14)
I suggest the 'Rabbi' not eat fish or meat. He ought to eat nothing more than beans so he can fart his way to heaven and leave us mere mortals alone. Enough of these bozos...enough!
3. Replacing matza meal
Akiva ,   NYC   (03.23.14)
What also adds to the expence of gefilte fish during Pesach is that those who don't 'brock' [use maitza meal] use ground almonds instead in their gefilte fish recipes.
4. sad really
shloime ,   toronto, canada   (03.23.14)
it's a sad comment on the readers of hamodia, that they should need a rabbinic psaq to deal with greedy merchants. gefilte fish is NOT a halakhic requirement of the holiday, so why are they so utterly dependent on rabbinic guidance that they are unable to make a very simple purchasing decision without it? "lo bashamayim hi".
5. Feh...
Michael ,   Vermilion OH USA   (03.23.14)
Enough with the boycotts already!
6. Gefilte Fish isn't even good....?
ParsiJew ,   Northridge, Ca   (03.23.14)
Why are people breaking their heads over it? It's not really tasty. Numerous Shabbats at friends' houses, always I have been pressured to try gefilte fish because of course everyone looks...."The Sfaradi is not eating it!" haha. It is not good tasting to me. Ashkenazi friends, go make some Kababs, its much, much better. There is nothing like a kabab :) Akhla Ochel
7. Shame he couldnt advise them to go get a job
Miri   (03.23.14)

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (03.23.14)
You eat gefilte fish from a jar?
9. #2:Al
Harold G. ,   USA   (03.23.14)
Even when a rabbi tries to save other Jews from an avoidable expense, that's no good either? Can't they ever do anything right? Enough of your infantile comments, bro', enough!
10. 2 Al This rendition of your vision
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.23.14)
is quite funny ... nonetheless, i can't laugh , as it is at the expense of a well- intentioned Rabbi , you don't know. You waste your great writing skills,Al Very sad.
11. Freeze!
Mark ,   London, UK   (03.23.14)
Buy in advance and freeze. If you aint't so fussy about preparing in a pesach kichen, make in advance and freeze the finished product so there's less preparation to do when the festival comes along.
12. #1, that's Not supply and demand!
Ilan ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (03.23.14)
it's called price gouging, very similar to profiteering!
13. Instead of fish...
Dovid ,   Israel   (03.23.14)
Why don't they focus of the absolutely insane price of Matzah, which is a requirement for Yom Tov!
14. What does a "rabbi" have to do with it
Aaron Kuperman ,   Baltimore   (03.23.14)
Orthodox Jews, be they hareidi or "modern" follow the same laws of economics. There is no halachic (Jewish law) reason to eat gefilte fish, and there are many of other appetizers available. A higher price results in substitutions. What any rabbi says is irrelevant (as long as no halachic issues are involved). Do you really believe that wearing a hat exempts one from the basic laws of economics???????
15. Well, they should eat pastas.
(03.24.14)
There's nothing like pasta
16. Response to Al (#2)
Moshe ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.24.14)
It's amazing how people like you will seize upon absolutely anything at all, no matter how baseless, as an excuse to spew vile hatred.
17. Ground Up Carp Sounds Like Catfood
World Citizen ,   the world   (03.24.14)
It must be disgusting. And from the G_d who won't let you eat lobster? Wouldn't it be nice if you could eat a succulent ham, Swiss cheese and hot mustard on rye sandwich? With some potato salad and a cold beer? Now that's a nice meal for a Friday night Seder meal. Maybe even throw in a rugby match on the tele.
18. Sounds very fishy to me!
mark ,   Jerusalem   (03.25.14)
19. #1 'Bottle' (sic)? ;-)
GS ,   Germany   (03.25.14)
20. In this case the Rabbi is 100 % right !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.25.14)
We should not buy something with an exaggerated price , only because it's Kosher for Pesach . Where we often buy food for Shabbat , they increased their price for gefillte fish from 9 to 12 ILS !
21. i eat it with my eyes closed
sam delpatuko ,   gibraltar   (03.25.14)
IF YOU THINK OF IT ,GEFILTE FISH IS MOST UNAPPETISING.ITS COLOUR IS GREYISH GREEN GIVING A FIRST IMPRESSION THAT ITS A GOOD FOODSTARTING TO ROT . THE FIRST TIME I WAS INTRODUCED TO IT I WAS ABOUT 9 YEARS OLD IN PARIS. IT WAS PRESENTED ON A COLD WHITE PLATE WITH AN UGLY FISH HEAD STARING AT ME WITH A PIECE OF CARROT AT THE TIP OF ITS NOSE SWIMMING IN A GREENISH YELLOW JELLY.NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAVE SINCE AVOIDED IT. THE FRIED BALL VARIETY IS MORE ACCEPTABLE........BUT I WONDER CANT THEY DO SOMETHING NICER WITH A CARP!!!
22. 4 Because it i easier for poor parents
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.26.14)
to deprive their children of a Pessah delicacy if the Rabbi said so. Why are you looking for every opportunity to blame even well-intentioned beloved Rabbis?
23. Ora , 22
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.27.14)
Do you think that poor parents have the possibility to buy prepared geffilte fish ?
