How many times has Ya'alon spoken and then had to apologize for his remarks....and to what purpose? His speeches and actions seem aimed solely to satisfy his supporters (ie the Hassidic community) with little regard to the consequences. Yaalon and Netanyahu view Iranian nukes as a mortal danger to Israel, because they fear that Israel will be unable to respond to attacks by Iranian-sponsored forces in Gaza (thanks to Sharon), Lebanon (thanks to Barak and Livni), Sinai and Jordan (thanks to Obama) and possibly Judea and Samaria (thank you Leftists). For three years Netanyahu and Yaalon have ignored evidence that Obama is trying to give Iran nukes and instead tried to work with Obama to stop Iranian nukes. The only mistake Yaalon now made is threatening military action. Since Obama acknowledged Iran's "right" to nukes, Israel has no chance of neutralizing them. Israel must develop a new strategy for survival: a clear message to Iran that even low-level attacks will be met with a strategic response that will end the Mullah's wealth, cooperation with Russia and Saudi Arabia, and most importantly secure borders. Secure borders are easy: immediate destruction of Fatah/PLO, massive Jewish building in Judea and Samaria, and population exchange where Christians, Druze and Alawi fleeing genocide in Syria and Lebanon move to Israel in exchange for Sunni Muslim occupiers.

Israelis , sorry to say ,have long been arrogant . And sometimes complacent too ,we all know that . This is hardly news to us . But other nations and leaders can also sometimes be arrogant and complacent .These traits are not unique or exclusive to israelis. True enough ,the U.S has long been a great helper and ally of Israel . However , some israelis , such as Mr Ya'alon , take issue or question some of the current U.S administrations' decisions or directions ,and why not ? Israel can afford few serious mistakes if it wishes to continue to survive. Mr Kerry can afford to make grave errors of judgement ,Mr Ya'alon can ill afford to. Mr .Ya'alon may indeed come across as abrasive ,undiplomatic or just downright rude but at least one knows where one stands with him with little pretense. Believe it or not , I personally appreciate the United States and all it stands for ,it has long been a real force for good in the world and long may this continue.
