that for the Palestinians, the goal of peace talks isn't peace, it's the release of prisoners (and, in the longer view, the destruction of Israel). There should be no prisoner release until a final, END OF CONFLICT peace settlement is signed (in other words probably never).

Could someone explain exact what Israel gets out of extending these useless talks? The Arabs get prisoners released. But what about us? Please answer if you know. It seems we would want them to fail now, rather than after the 2014 US mid term elections, so that Obama will have trouble blaming Israel, as he no doubt plans to do.

Just agreeing to sit down and issue the same demands while still calling for dismantling Israel piece by piece does really promote the process, does it?

The release of prisoners, including murderers, is the biggest offence of Israeli governments against their citizens. There is unwritten convention between a democratic regime and its subjects – They will fulfill their civil duties and the government will protect them, or at least punish properly those who injured or murdered them. Our rulers have scathingly violated this treaty.

Either you want a state and talks to continue or you do not. If you set a condition merely to talk, then when all the prisoners released you can say no more talks. NO concessions.
