1. on one condition
(03.30.14)
If there is no statute of limitations, then evidence must be presented. No more convictions based on "she said" that allows women to extort innocent men like happened with Katsav and is now happening with Silvan Shalom
2. I support you as long as you support
Il   (03.30.14)
Greater and harsher punishment to those who make up stories of rape and sexual harassment as a tool to use against men for revenge or coercion.
3. Even hilonim think Israeli society stinks
Aaron Kuperman ,   Baltimore   (03.30.14)
and you wonder why hareidim feel that their zionist neighbors are uncouth savages -- any why they believe that forcing a hareidi to participate in zionist society is no different than forcing them to work in a brothel
4. No fear prevents rape, victims must go public, shaming perp
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (03.30.14)
5. Wasn't there ANYTHING of that nature alleged against Shimon?
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.30.14)
Like: EVER?! If so: WHY NOT?!
6. Learn from what already works
NB ,   Israel   (03.30.14)
It is generally true that western, arabic, and asian cultures objectify women and this can easily lead to sexual assault; it is also generally true that Torah culture does not objectify women, and so sexual assault in the Torah world is an exception to the rule. When boys grow up seeing their father sing Eishet Chayil to their mother every Friday night, they imbibe the message of respect for the female. And when girls grow up seeing their mother and other women around them dressing modestly and respecting the sanctity of their bodies, they learn to think and do the same.
7. Girls should take responsability..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.30.14)
for their way of behaving ,for example, not isolate themselves with men in hotel rooms and underdress. Don't overestimate guys. They are not made of wood. Having said that ,i do NOT condone rapers .quite the opposite. They should be strongly punished. But with reasonable proofs. Attacking politicians at dubious timing is not right ; first look for an initiator, maybe a competitor?
8. Yeah: let's take a leaf out of the Holy Kouran (as Obama
tom ,   tel aviv   (03.30.14)
likes to call that vile scripture) and insist on having AT LEAST 3 (three) male witnesses to any alleged rape! After all: it looks like Islam is the Next Big Thing, so we should take heed...no?
9. Unbelievable!
Harri ,   EU   (03.30.14)
If this article was in any European news site, readers would discuss mainly about how to protect women. Here you seem to discuss mostly about how to protect rapist and how to blame women. Have you ever read Torah?
10. @ #3, Mr. Kuperman
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (03.30.14)
"forcing a hareidi to participate in zionist society is no different than forcing them to work in a brothel" If that's the case, what's holding the haredim prisoner in the "brothel". If they don't like it, they can leave. I'm sure most the secular public will be delighted to see their backs one last time.
11. Commenters who talk rubbish.
Faye ,   Israel   (03.30.14)
As a haredi woman who is proud of being haredi I object to the nonsense other commenters have implied that girls take responsibility. Laws of yichud apply to men as much as women. Women are not to blame for being raped. NO and STOP are words that should be heard and if a person is HUMAN they are obliged to obey or be locked up as a danger to society. That being said I can't understand how a bare-chested protest helps bring across the point that this is a serious issue!
12. 11Faye,Responsible mothers teach..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.30.14)
their daughters to be aware of the dangers and take precautions. That is what Tzniut regulations are all about. All faults have consequences and yes the faulty has a part of responsibility in what happened . Shavua Tov,Faye
13. Occurs Everywhere and Worse
Zechariah   (03.30.14)
Gender Manipulations and abuse ought be hit hard .
14. Tell the feminists to suck it!
Vlad   (03.30.14)
The statute of limitations is important in protecting people when there really isn't enough evidence to prosecute. This is especially true for rape cases. Here's what should be ended: the ability of women to make up rape stories and get men convicted. End the "he said she said" nonsense and make it so cases where there is no real evidence even get to trial. And harshly punish women who invent rape stories, just as harshly as rapists are punished.
15. Why is this connected to Silvan Shalom?
Israela ,   Israel   (03.30.14)
Let's all remember that the accuser of Silvan Shalom is accusing him of taking advantage of his position as her boss and NOT that he violently assaulted her. To connect this very important protest to the case against Silvan Shalom insults all of us.
16. the point raised by number 2 is extremely important
survivor ,   Israel   (03.30.14)
As a survivor I firmly believe that women who make up rape stories (despite knowing that they suffer from Munchhausen Syndrome) are causing serious damage to each one of us who tells the TRUTH. Further this wild protest with naked women and all kinds of wild allegations doesn't help us either. These women may have had good intentions but they have failed me and many other survivors because they turned it into a circus about their naked breasts. Sadly, they missed the point.
17. I just read a story from Brazil...
Beary White ,   Norway   (03.30.14)
.. If a female runs around in the street, almost undressed, she must expect to get raped. And in Egypt, if you are a female reporter at Tharir square, expect to be gang-raped.. If you are dressed as a western female in ANY islamic state, you must expect to get sexually assaulted and eventually raped or killed. If you are born a girl amongst brothers in most islamic-cult-followers home, you must expect to get raped by a brother.
