The Palestinian strategy is right. With every year and every decade that pass, the demographics of Israel and Palestine change drastically. The two groups who have by far the largest demographic growth are Arabs (in Israel and Palestine) and Haredim orthodox Jews, who are indifferent to nationalistic extremism. Secular ¨Zionist¨ Jews are mass migrating to Europe and America and with the new ¨open sky¨ airline policy and countries such as Spain more eager to grant Jews EU citizenship, this trend will increase. Not to mention America granting Israelis visa free access to the U.S.. These emigrating Jews are being replaced by : 1) part-time Jewish residents from France or America who are more interested in depositing (or hiding) their capital in Israeli banks and real estate. and go back and forth. 2) Jewish American teens who want to ¨taste¨ the Israeli experience for a year or two and then go back to their lives in the U.S. Israeli society is already beginning to feel the demographic crunch with the sudden need to massively recruit ¨Haredim¨ to the army, and even create a whole new Haredi infantry brigade (sounds ridiculous ?.. it is). Which most probably ain´t gonna happen. What the Palestinians need to do at this point is concentrate on the micro.. just keep on building their society and improve health and education. The macro will take care of itself.

It has been a big mistake to release prisoners, however Israel set the precedent by doing this in the past. Israel should agree to these terms. Stop any building in WB and Jerusalem and extend the talks. At the end of this 3 month period the Palestinians won't agree to anything they never have they never will. Their leadership doesn't want peace. They are not capable of transitioning in to statesmen. Come back in 200 years and may be they will have matured a little. Arabs don't want the ME to be judenrein just that Jews be subjugated as that's what they have brought up to believe.

If Hamas does accept the conditions of the Quartet as has been hinted at by several sources, then this is a watershed moment and the ball truly is in Israel's court. If they don't then options to move forward are quite limited. Asking the Palestinians to declare Israel to be a Jewish state is ridiculous. I want actions in a signed agreement that protect Israel remaining as a Jewish state, i.e. an agreement that fixes borders and ends claims of right to return. Israel needs a peace treaty to protect the reality of it's status as a Jewish state, and doesn't need any other state to tell it what it already is.
