Assad is doing such a swell job I expect the Syrians (those not yet gassed or burned alive) to elect him for life.

YOU NEED A REAL meddling DICK TO GET AFTER ASSSAD's make believe presidential elections where all his opponents are dead, in jail or tossed out of the country These are not elections these are ERECTIONS with the biggest prick of them all running for a 3rd term.

There is only 3 ways the presidency can end for this great democratically elected president whose electoral system is a shining example of democracy at its best. 1) Eventually when the rebels get the upper hand he will be forced to escape into exile probably North Korea or Iran because not many places will give him sanctuary 2) He will be caught hiding like Saddam Hussain and the rebels will string him up same as the Iraqis did to Saddam. 3) He will not run and will die fighting. However it turns out this elected president won't be around long enough to stand for a fourth term

As he has killed off the opposition I think Assad has a pretty good chance at winning. Its the perfect electoral system, kill the opposition and you win the election. Fatah & Hamas did that after the last election which Hamas won and they were in the streets shooting at each other and throwing each other off rooftops, arabs find unique solutions to their political problems.
