The whole world financial system is corrupt! There is no justice in putting Olmert in prison for 7 years, while criminal bankers are robbing the world with usurious interest via the central banks, manipulating all financial markets in their favor, and no one goes to jail. If the Prosecutor Yonatan Tadmor want‘s to send a message, he should go after the banking elite and their fraudulent financial system.

Olmert's actions is certainly an example of political corruption. He should face the consequences whatever they may be. If a lesson can be learned over this case is that no one is above the law.

cal saying: "the worst part about corruption is when ...we're not part of it". Who doesn't mind "special" tickets to a concert, or getting straight into some apparatchiks office without having to wait 2 hours in line?? Still, we have to fight this ugly but very human urge and give this unfortunate S.O.B. his due punishment. His political crimes are something entirely different.

You sound like the rabble at the Grande Place in Paris in the early 1790ies yearning to see the guillotine go down whether really guilty or not, whether the crime was small or big! I have my doubts about what Olmert did or not, and whether his prosecution over years with one accusation after the other was really fair. In any case, the man did more than you know for his country, and to demand the same sentence as former president katzav got for statutory rape is ridiculous, vindictive, and unfair. Given the atmosphere of the Grande Place currently prevails - he might likely get what you wish for. But we should all be careful what we do wish for!

Pity that the Israeli laws do not lead to the request for a sentence for the architects that designed these ugly buildings. This design is also a part of the corruption problem.

Hopefully the courts will do the right thing for a change and send Olmert away for a nice long time to send a message to all Israeli politicians you do the commit the crime you do the time. Do many Israeli politicians are investigated on corruption charges but they all get off so if Olmert goes away maybe it will force the rest to get their acts together.
