3.  diplomacy and hope do not........
Calibi ,   Sydney Aust   (05.03.14)
Diplomacy and hope do not equate with reality! I'm sad to say this.......I love the Chinese very much but I also love the Jews. Many times I said there is virtually no anti - Semitic as far as the Han Chinese is concern (except the Turkic or Turkish /mongol Chinese Muslim.) Communism and the cultural revolution had breed many many Chinese without a "heart" and emotion. The danger lies in the communist/nationalism trigger! When Pol Pot Khmer Rouge leader massacre 1/3 of their own population during the killing fields it was under the Chinese nose and the Chinese green light. What the world did not know or do not want to know is most of the victims were intellectuals of Chinese descendents. Can you imagine China allow Cambodia Chinese to be exterminated? So when the international political crunch appear.......between Iran and Israel and oil who will they take side? I'm sure Israel will be like the Chinese Cambodian a political pawn for the China national interest. May God bless Israel.

6. excellent and timely
Arn ,   Yehud. Israel   (05.03.14)
An excellent and timely article. China is not to be judged by the standards we normally identify with acceptable international relationships. China has a history unlike any other. This will be payback time for the criminal Japanese, for the English who burned the treasured Summer Palace and forced the infamous opium wars on her, for the Russians and the Germans... for Manchuria. Port Arthur, Taiwan, Tibet... These aggressive and thieving countries will now tremble for all the right reasons. Don't worry about Israel.
7. China-Israel now and tomorrow.
Rene Peritz ,   Bainbridge Island US   (05.03.14)
This article constitutes a remarkable statement. It is of course essential for Israel to maintain good relationships with China for all the reasons cited, but it should not be overlooked that China's national interests included military training of the PLO, mixing of economic benefits with political pressures and censorship, intervening in the affairs of other countries ( has the Dalai Lama been received recently in Israel?). Ambassadors sometimes have blind spots in their assessments outside of their directives.
8. And what about the political oppression???
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (05.03.14)
Making business with China, because it might benefit you economically, is a little bit like making deals with Al Capone to obtain cheaper booze. China is the world's biggest dictatorship, is holding millions of prisoners in slave labor camps, is executing tens of thousands of citizens annually, is denying minorities their cultural rights etc etc etc..... Does anyone see a problem with seeking closer ties with such a country???
9. Nr 5. BEREISHIT - should be translated -

" In the Firstling " - that is Christ/the Messiah !. Arn.Sweden.
10. Painting the Chinese as savior?
Cameron ,   USA   (05.03.14)
As desperate & foolish a move as Israel could make. Certainly, do X amount of business with them in the years to come, but very guarded & warily at that. You've played the cold Realist with the Arab lands. Do so even more when interacting with the Chinese. The Chinese do soley for the Chinese.
11. Ancient Levant center of global trade routes, coveted land
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (05.03.14)
...between East and West, North and South. Fought over throughout history by Egyptians, Philistines, Israelites, Syrians, Persians, Romans, Ottomans, the British, Palestinians, and now by European Jews. It is the center of the ancient, and modern world.
12. re: excellent and timely - correction

14. China an enemie
albert snow ,   sweden   (05.05.14)
Amos Nadai must have been brainwashed of the chinese. Doesn´t he know China is a kommunist dictatorship opressing it´s own people, thretening Japan, Vietnam, Philippine and Taiwan. Ockupying Tibet. Supporting the mullas in Iran, the PLO, Russia and every dictator in the world. Communist China is no partner to Israel and has never been. Don´t get fooled from the fool.
15. China and Israel
Sjoerd van der Velde ,   Hoorn, Holland   (05.13.14)
For example, concerning polity, democracy, freedom, liberty and human rights-policy, China and the rest of the present, entire dictatorial, inhuman and criminal world, can take an example to Israel and to the rest of the free and democratic world. Also, Israel, forever, ever and always!
17. Israel's econ not "shrinking",grew 7% 4th qtr 2014 grew 7%
bob k ,   orlando fl usa   (04.19.15)
This piece was written in May 2014. Today I read in Ynet News that Israel's economy increased by 7% in the last quarter of 2014. The state of an economy needs to be judged over the longterm. Meanwhile as the lead article emphasized, Israel's relationship with China is growing in the areas of economy, politics, academia and scientific research. Maybe culture too. I can see Israeli theater and dance in China and viceversa.
