1. The Jordan is Palestine option
Sagi   (05.12.14)
is the optimal option for Israel. As far as the Palestinians are concerned it is not an option because it would present a solution that in effect would defeat their purpose, and that of the Arab world, namely to delete and erase Israel from map and memory. It is also not an option as far as Jordan is concerned. In the late 50's and early 60's I plowed fields at night time in the area of Megiddo, close to Jenin. The noise of riots and gunfire was frequently heard and the Palestinians were hounded by the Legion, shot or hanged in the town square. King Hussein relinquished his control over the West Bank after the 1967 war. He knew what he was doing, it was a very wise move. He shifted the problem from his shoulders to ours and we are burdened with it to this day. Why should Jordan re-burden itself with an interminable and unsolvable problem. We are lumbered with it and it will continue for many generations to come.
2. arabs will never accept jews in israel
ray   (05.12.14)
they will wage war after war after war until either they win or God intervenes.
3. "After all, the Palestinians are already the majority in
A ,   Belgium   (05.12.14)
Jordan." That is the solution in all of its clarity. There is absolutley no logic in giving Jordan a "gift" of Judea and Samaria, as it was originally intended to part of Israel. Jordan captured it and occupied it in a war it helped start, Israel tookwon it back in a war that once again Jordan helped start and later, Jordan disengaged from Judea and Samaria and dropped the whole pile of "palestinian problem" in Israels' lap to contend with. However, the Hashemite Abdullah remains a minority king ruling over a "palestinian" majority. It is time they went back across the river and claimed the country that is rightfully theirs, Israel is NOT theirs.
4. 1 Land...2 People...1 Future
Lynx ,   Palestine   (05.12.14)
Peace based on justice.
5. Refugees
Raphael ,   Netanya   (05.12.14)
44% of the arab inhabitants of the territories enjoy the UNRWA benefits. Do they actually agree to give up their victim status? I believe that their dream is to start a kebab booth in Malmö or Montreal, but they are stuck to stay in camps by the international aid boonanza.
6. Two state solution
Sjoerd van der Velde ,   Hoorn, Holland   (05.12.14)
That was/is already reality, since the 1920"s and most possible still earlier. (The English mandate of Palestine, after 1918, until 1948) For example: The establishment of Jordan and Israel can be considered as a certain result, since/in respectively 1946 and 1948. Also Israel, forever, ever and always!
7. Two-states for two-peoples is certainly a way out:
N.L.Katz ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.12.14)
One state, the Palestinian-Arab nation-state on 77% of former Palestine/EretzIsrael, located between the Jordan River and the Arabian desert. The other, the nation-state of the Jewish people on only 23% of former EretzIsrael/Palestine, located between the Jordan River and the Med. Sea. This is precisely the solution envisioned by the author of the League of Nations decisions, 1922. And, this is exactly the solution adopted by the UN and etched into its Charter, article 8, 1945; both being part of the fundamental elements of international law related to the Arab Israeli conflict and the way to resolve it. This doesn't mean that there will be a mass movement of people. On the contrary, by international law all will be entitled to all human, civil and religious rights, but national rights will be exercised in each of the two peoples respective parts of EretzIsrael/Palestine.
8. Perhaps the best near term solution is to continue ...
Robert ,   USA   (05.12.14)
just kick the can down the road. That has worked reasonably well for nearly 50 years, so perhaps a solution will appear in the next 50 years all on its own.
9. A two-state solution ...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.12.14)
... was never a viable possibility to begin with. And the biggest mistake Israel has made in the entirety of modern statehood is continuing to assume that the "Palestinians" would be content with anything but the entirety. They could have had a state In 1947; one which would have been much larger than the State of Israel. They chose to go to war instead. They lost. That should have ended their whole foolish optimism, but did it? No. They went to war again and again and again, getting resoundly thrashed on each occasion, yet still they persisted, turning ever-increasingly to new methods -- terrorism most significantly, but international for a as well, trying to convince a remarkably gullible international community that they are poor, downtrodden, innocent victims of Israeli aggression. The truth is quite different. It is time to arrive at the realization that the "Palestinians" are not in the least bit interested in peaceful co-existence with Israel; nothing short of the complete and total destruction of the State of Israel, and the extermination or (for the so-called "moderates") expulsion of the Jewish people from our homeland. The international community needs to get its head around the fact that the destruction of the State of Israel will spell the end of life on this planet. Just this once, we Jews are NOT going alone. We will take as much of the world with us as we can (and that will be pretty much all of it) and render the balance uninhabitable for the next one hundred thousand years. The crazy thing in this entire equation is that the international community refuses to apply the accepted conventions and laws of war that are quite legitimately applied. The vanquished are simply that; vanquished. The vanquished do not make demands. The vanquished do not set terms and conditions. But, not all is lost. There is a country which will have to pay a price, but it is not Israel. It is Jordan. Jordan is, quite rightly, the "Palestinian" state. It was created out of whole cloth in order to appease the baby brother (Abdullah) of Feisal, whom the British had just crowned the king of newly-invented Iraq. So they lopped off seventy-seven percent of the land promised to the Jewish people under the San Remo Treaty and the Balfour Declaration, and invented the "Kingdom of the Trans-Jordan." Why doesn't anyone question the legitimacy of Jordan? The answer is easy. Because to do so would mean that its status as a nation must be revoked. The British are to blame -- they just wanted to keep their grubby hands in control of all the recent discoveries of oil in Mesopotamia and in Saudi Arabia. What's the importance of international treaties and promises made to the Jewish people when OIL is at stake? That's the harsh reality. Israel has given back Sinai (the price for culling Egypt out of the Arab herd) and ceded Gaza, which has been nothing more than a launching pad for terrorism against Israel ever since. We are not going to make the same mistake with Judea and Samaria. We are not going to cede control of our heartland. And since it is the Arabs who have proven themselves such violent and disagreeable neighbors, it is the Arabs in Judea and Samaria that will have to go. Not too far, mind you; just to Jordan. It is, after all, the "Palestinian" state. That's just common sense. It's also a natural two-state solution. The only one.
10. To: No. 4
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.12.14)
Yeah, justice. How about the outcome of six wars, all started by the Arabs, in which Israel emerged victorious? How about over seven decades of unremitting "Palestinian" terror, visited against the Jewish people both in the State of Israel and in the Diaspora? How about the vile charters of the thirty or so "Palestinian" terror organizations, each of which call for the destruction of the State of Israel and the extermination and/or expulsion of the Jewish people from their homeland? You people will get the justice you deserve. Repatriation to Jordan, country of your citizenship. You would not make very convincing or loyal Israeli citizens. And since you are not going to get Judea and Samaria handed to you on a silver platter, you had better set about deciding whether you'd rather be repatriated to Jordan or would you rather go build a "Palestinian" state in Gaza?
11. Most of the original "refugees" are old or dead...
Malone ,   Hfx   (05.12.14)
..Their offspring are not refugees...they are living where they were born
12. USA won't let Jordan become Palestine
Memphis Slim ,   Memphis, TN - USA   (05.12.14)
USA foreign policy for decades has, unfortuntunely, guarenteed King Hussein of Jordan that the Israeli/Palestinian conflict will not be resolved with Jordan involved whatsoever. The indigonous Jordanians already feel there are too many Palestinians - a population that they had to pacify during Black September - killing thousands. With that said, if Obama can throw Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Israel under the bus - surely he has no problem throwing Hussein under the bus. The writer is correct: What is currently estimated to be a Palestinian state in the West Bank should become an independant Palestinian canton as part of the greater Jordanian state. All we need now is for the Israeli political echelon to start the murmurs of this solution and get it into the public discourse.
13. Jordan option not real.Pals still hoping Jews will disappear
Sam ,   Canada   (05.12.14)
Jordan rejects the Jordan option. There is no real option right now because Palestinians are still hoping Israel will disappear. They hope Israel will withdraw from the West Bank and then Jews will be thrown out of Israel. The US and EU will keep pressing for useless negotiations. It's the status quo with Israel building in the West Bank until Palestinians have a change of heart.
14. Two States Solution
Harold ,   USA   (05.12.14)
There will be a Two States solution no matter what some says. Obama and Kerry promised to do it and they will do it.
15. Why not a Coptic 2-State in Egypt & Jordan?
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (05.13.14)
16. Jewish majority is growing in our land..
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.12.14)
The solution is simple. Jews are a growing majority in Israel. Demography is our friend. The hoax of the "Arab demographic bomb" has been exposed. Arabs are now leaving Judea and Samaria at the rate of about 15,000 annually. Israel could easily increase this number greatly by: 1. Assuring "Palestinians" can sell their homes to Jews without risking death. 2. Providing "Palestinians" incentives to leave.
17. Just a thought
Sagi   (05.12.14)
Abdul row the boat ashore, haleluya Fatima help to trim the sail, haleluya Jordan's river is deep and wide.haleluya I've got a home on the other side, haleluya
18. Two State Solution
Walid ,   Spain   (05.12.14)
All the possible solutions mentioned in the article will not work anymore even if the parties are willing to resolve the question of Palestine. These discussions have been going on for over 60 years and lead to nowhere. It is now too late. What the writer seems to forget is that something happened that changed all realities. The Arab Spring. Now you have Jihadists roaming all over the Middle East and North Africa and are increasing in numbers and strength every day. They have no respect for political order or borders. The Koran is their guide. They are ready to die in the name of Allah and have no fear to blow themselves up. They are already changing the landscape in Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Egypt and soon they will be knocking at the door of Israel. Within the coming five years, you will see most of the autocratic Arab regimes falling in their hands and soon Israel will be surrounded by millions of Jihadists ready to march like a cloud of locust over the land of Palestine. No army or weapon will stop them. Israel should have made peace with the Arabs long time ago when the opportunity was genuine.
19. #5 Your Racism is naked
Lynx ,   Palestine   (05.12.14)
No - they will not settle for a kebab booth in Montreal, as you put it. Their future is repatriation to their country of origin - Palestine. No force on Earth can prevent them from returning to their lands and home from which they were expelled by Zionist mafias. And you know about our patience, we waited 67 years, and will wait another 200- gladly.
20. The Yechiel Peace Plan:
Yechiel   (05.12.14)
I used to be right-wing but then it hit me that the right-wing is delusional and messianic. Now I am center-left. Israel's economy is more important then holding on to the West Bank and East Jerusalem. If Israel were to unilaterally cede the territories to Jordan it could wash its hands of the all its problems and make peace with 40+ Muslim countries.
21. "Federalization" of Palestine Israel, 2 States, 1 Country
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (05.12.14)
...allows for both a "Jewish State" and a "Palestinian State". With Arabs and Jews living on both sides of the '67 borders, subject to State laws, and Federal laws, much like the United States.
22. Just invite arobs to move to jeerdumb & slowly acquire all

Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (05.12.14)
And if you like your health plan you can keep your health plan. Only a fool trusts Obama or Kerry but you go right ahead Harold. Stupid is as stupid does.
24. What is this hang-up with the left????
Shachar ,   Eilat   (05.12.14)
We have a right-wing gov't and have had them for a long time. The left has no say in what is happening. Why can't a right wing gov't have a policy??? Shouldn't you be asking the current gov't what the hell it's policy is?
25. Finally realism!
SK ,   Tel Aviv   (05.12.14)
One must commend Plocker on a logical and unemotional appraisal of the situation.
26. #3 There is no logic
(05.12.14)
in expecting that Jordan will accept Palestinians without West bank.
27. non of these proposals are viable
zionist forever   (05.12.14)
1) We cannot seriously have an apartheid single state, the west would never allow it and neither would most secular Israelis so its not an option. If we want to go the binational route is means giving up the Jewish state concept and replace it with a religion neutral state for all with an arab majority. 2) We cannot force Jordan to be Palestine if the Jordanian government doesn't want to. 3) There are about 4 million arabs in Judea & Samaria compared to 1 million in Gaza so the idea of Hamas military rule of Gaza doesn't hold water We need to be inventive and look for new and viable solutions which non of these proposals are. If we do stick with the 2 state idea the terms must be very different to what they have been for the past 20 years
28. Writer is right
Harri ,   EU   (05.12.14)
After collapse of negotiations, there is no use to try two state solution any more. Israel should draw borderlines from Jordan to the sea and give everyone between those borders the citizenship of Israel. Other option is that UN forces the -67 borders between Israel and Palestinians, but I don't think it is possible. The one state solution is the only solution left on the table.
29. There is ONE state and it's called Israel !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (05.12.14)
The Arab occupants of Judea and Samaria have to adjust to reality. THE SOONER, THE BETTER !
30. #14 Another whiff by the political prediction
A ,   Belgium   (05.12.14)
strike out artist. 0.00 batting average, always consistent and always wrong. If Kerry promised he could make himself into shoe and Oblabla promised he could end world hunger in 2 hours, you would believe that too, wouldn't you bumpkin.
