1. Olmert the narcissist
CJK   (05.13.14)
it is very said that the day has come when a former prime minister is convicted of felonous crimes and is sentenced to a long prison term. however, olmert has no one but himself to blame. olmert's ego and his narcissism led him to the prison gate. sad for the country, sad for his family, and ultimately, sad for him.
2. Oggs' comments are dreadful. I feel very sad and hope

4. Israel's democracy is very strong
CJK   (05.13.14)
it is very rare in liberal democracies that a prime minister is charged with a crime, convicted after a fair trial, and then is handed a long prison sentence. all those on the extreme left who whine constantly that israel is a fascist state need to learn the lesson from this conviction which proves freedom of press, a strong prosecutorial arm, a very independent judiciary and a people who demand that no one be above the law.
5. Good job Israeli Judicial system!!!
Judah ,   Golan Heights,ISRAEL   (05.13.14)
Hopefully former President Moshe Katzav and former prime Minister Ehud Olmert get to share a prison cell together.
6. ok, but...
Toledano Jean-Pierre ,   Israel   (05.13.14)
That he is convicted and sentenced: ok. I think that the judgement is correct. But, to describe him as a traitor: the judge was going too far. Again, I believe the judicial investigation, the condemnation were correct, but the judge gave a personal opinion about the case by calling Olmert a traitor. It can give the feeling of prejudice and a lack of objectivity from the judge, the court. A judge has to base his judgment only on facts. His personally conviction makes him unworthy for the job. Replace him.
7. The crooks got caught.
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.13.14)
Payback for his involvement in the Gush Katif affair.
8. His Punishment Will Be Worse.....
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.13.14)
for the Hilul Hashem he, and the others, caused. The damage he caused to the good name of the Jewish people is immeasurable.
9. Former president in jail, now former
benji   (05.13.14)
P.M. going to jail.....A few more will follow, might as well run the country from the jail and be done with it. , At least they do get punished, unlike many countries where these corrupt government officials would go out and have anyone against them shot, or on the "not to be found" list.
10. Cry me a river for this piece of work...
Al   (05.13.14)
Lets see shall. we..How we can summarize Olmerts work as PM. Does anyone remember Summer 2006 when Israel was being bombed form the North and the South while Olmert had his finger up his ass? Do anyone of you remember how he set the cops to beat the hell out of some Jewish Kids in Amona? Well Karma is a bitch..
11. proud

12. Israel 2014
Sagi   (05.13.14)
President in jail. Former PM in jail. Former Ministers in jail. Former Mayor in jail. Former CEO of largest bank in jail. Graft is the order of the day. Underworld riding high. Targeted killings a daily event. Affordable housing a dream. The best minds leave the country. Not exactly the "Zionist Dream" of our forefathers. When will the people wake up and realize that "something is rotten in the Kingdom",and demand change. Change can only come from the people and only by determination to "explain" to the politicians that their job is to serve the people and their country and that high office is not a road to self glorification and the way to line one's pocket and that nepotism is fine in the family business but not when you are running a country and defining its future.
13. another disengagment criminal...
expellee ,   Nitzan   (05.13.14)
Another perpetrator of the expulsion ("disengagment") is punished. Baruch Dayan Haemet! He'll have plenty of time to think about his crimes against the Jewish people while in prison.
14. Olmert jailed for Amona expulsion
Yesh Din ,   VeYesh Dayan   (05.13.14)
One by one the architects of that evil expulsion met their fate. Ariel Sharon, Omri Sharon, Moshe Yaalon, Dan Halutz, Moshe Karadi, Niso Shacham, Moshe Katzav, Uri Bar-Lev, Tzachi HaNegbi, Chaim Ramon, Avraham Hirschson, Yonatan Bassi, Shaul Mofaz, Yesh Din VeYesh Dayan - There's a law and there's a Judge.
15. Olmert jailed for Gaza & Amona expulsion

Ariel Sharon, Omri Sharon, Moshe Yaalon, Dan Halutz, Moshe Karadi, Niso Shacham, Moshe Katzav, Uri Bar-Lev, Tzachi HaNegbi, Chaim Ramon, Avraham Hirschson, Yonatan Bassi, Shaul Mofaz, Yesh Din VeYesh Dayan - There's a law and there's a Judge.
16. Olmert's new address
Steve Goodman ,   Israel   (05.13.14)
I never thought that our Justice system was equalllllllly applied to all those charged with a crime/s......will wonders never cease....an honest Judge with morals and true respect for the Law.......AM YISROEL CHAI
17. How sad for Israel
Dov ben David ,   Eilat, Israel   (05.13.14)
So many people of importance are simple thieves in Israel. What do they think they do? Set a good example for the am Israel? We must bring a law that give them double jail time, to set an example. If not regular people will loose their responsibility for the state and moral.
18. Justice
Dr D ,   Jerusalem   (05.13.14)
Olmert is lucky to be judged in Israel. In China, for example, he would have been already dead (One bullet in the head paid by his family) executed in public.
19. Stupidity
Ephraim ,   Jerusalem   (05.13.14)
I think he should go to jail more for stupidity than corruption. A person like Olmert, a former mayor and prime minister, could make this amount of money ($160,000) in less than a month giving speeches to Jewish groups in USA and elsewhere. What an idiot.
20. Uri Lupolianski and morality
Gideon ,   Jerusalem   (05.13.14)
How strange former mayor Uri Lupolianski the one who stood on his soap box to preach morality to others is going down, for his part in the affair. All this from a man who tried to ban the Gay march on grounds of morality. Well i might be gay but i have never even had a parking ticket , worked all my life, paid taxes, served in the army and raised millions for charity and this low life is judging me, some add he is for Degel Ha Torah. Hope he finds some big butch cell mate to wind away the hours while in Jail.
21. #2. Oggs' comments are dreadful
(05.13.14)
Why Miri? is it not tragic, as Olmert shamed and degraded Israel by stooping into the gutter of greed and corruption; It is tragic highlighting misfocus of a man in charge of Israel's security and armies. We will never know how much blood was shed needlessly, how many lives wasted in their prime because Olmert has a stronger yearning for luxury over his responsibilities to the offices he failed to discharge with honour and integrity Oggs
22. Wish other neighboring countries to
Mohamad ,   usa   (05.13.14)
Follow Israeli example. As much as i don't like The Israeli State as much as I respect there justice system within themselves
23. It was not the taking of bribes,....
Gideon Reader   (05.13.14)
...that merited six years in the slam for the King of Cream Street. It was getting caught. don't worry. there is a book deal providing light at the end of the tunnel, and an endless supply of callow undereducated jackals awaiting to provide non stop, never endiing reportage. Hopefully by the time he is released (probably sooner than you think) he will be a distant memory and a whiff of political fecal stench
24. # 23 Fecal stench
Sagi   (05.13.14)
is an environmental problem and usually the sanitary department is called in to fix the problem. In the case of Israeli politics the stench has been around for a long time and nobody seems to know the telephone number of the sanitary department.
25. 22.
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.14.14)
How can you dislike Israel & respect at the same time??
26. 25
mohamad   (05.19.14)
