I am on the faculty of a prominent US university. I agree with Naor 100% about the need to counter SJP and their ilk. SSI seems like a good idea and Hillels on campus should also assume these responsibilities. Those criticizing Israel from the right should remind themselves that divided we may fall.

Why should Israelis need to struggle to be accepted, because of the actions of there government (leaving aside the nature and legitimacy of those actions)? Are American, British, Chinese or Iranians held responsible for the actions of their governments such as US drone attacks which kill far more civilians than are killed in Israel/Palestine conflict, or China/Iran and their barbaric regimes. Answer: NO What's special about Israelis that they need to struggle to be accepted and are boycotted? (answer is obvious, I know.)

Those nations are quite safe from annihilation so they can afford to be asses. Israel is going to have to make peace with its neighbors--sorry, just a fact. It's long past time that a critical mass of Israelis stood up and started making the hard choices of doing what's needed to make peace with the Palestinians. As long as the debate supports your anti-Israel agenda. Israelis are entitled to have their own schools, pools and highways. They have to hire security guards to protect public places from Palestinian terrorists and build separate roads to prevent sniper fire and rocks from hitting Israeli drivers. Not exactly segregation. The high point of support for Israel in the US Congress has been reached and will only go down. Hence the pathetic need to try and change the minds of American youth (which given the obnoxious nature of so many pro-Israelis is likely to backfire.) It's sad they still see this as a propaganda war in Europe and America. It takes a lot of arrogance to think those watching what's happening in Israel from the outside aren't seeing the big picture and simply need their views 'adjusted.'
