The MAVI MARMARA was extremely vocal about its purpose -- it blared to anyone who would listen that it was going to defy Israel's fully legal and internationally recognized blockade of the Gaza Strip in order to bring "humanitarian aid" to the people of Gaza. The illegal act came in openly announcing the intent to breach a legal blockade. When ordered to heave to, the vessel should have complied. It did not, and was boarded. Israel had every right to interdict the vessel -- international waters has nothing to do with it. Countries arrest vessels in international waters all the time, and if cargo is suspect, the vessel is interdicted and boarded. Where the vessel is has nothing to do with it -- its stated intent and the cargo -- or, in the case of the MAVI MARMARA, the complete absence of cargo -- is what determines whether a lawful stop has been made. The Palmer Report, commissioned by the United Nations at the demand of Turkey, vindicated Israel. It upheld the fact that Israel's blockade of Gaza is fully legal and internationally recognized, and it condemned Turkey for having allowed a blockade runner to set sail from its port. International waters? If that is the best you can do, I suggest you take a few courses in maritime law. Of course, you'd have to go back and finish elementary school first ....

The vessel was ordered to heave to. It refused. Since its intent was to breach a fully legal blockade, Israel had every right to board the vessel. You will recall that Israeli troops initially used non-lethal means. Only when the terrorists fought back did Israel turn to live fire. The Palmer Commission was demanded by Turkey, wasn't it? The fact that this neutral investigative panel found in favor of Israel does not change its legitimacy, does it? I am certain that the findings came as a huge shock to Erdogan, which is why he's been fighting it ever since. But the blockade of Gaza now carries the imprimatur of the United Nations. As the Palmer Report stated unequivocally, Israel's blockade of Gaza is fully legal and internationally recognized. Therefore, any attempt to breach the blockade is q.e.d. illegal. Israel has the right to stop any such attempts. The Palmer Report is what it is, Anton. And it was commissioned by the United Nations at Turkey's request. Erdogan will have to live with it. Does he really think his new antics will deflect attention from the real issues facing Turkey, or make people forget the horrible mining disaster? That's an extraordinary leap of faith. I really do think it is time for Turkey to put the MAVI MARMARA to bed -- all resurrections merely result in additional humiliation for Turkey -- and face real problems facing Turkey. Surely there is no shortage of those.

Your first premise is not correct, "Any civilized country sues the responsible of killing people attacked by night(!) and fighting back on their own territory." ( pardon me but, if you wrote this in any beginners English class, you'd get an F-.) !- The ship was not in port, that would be 'in their own territory', it was in a maritime area formally known to be legally blockaded to prevent such acts of criminality. 2- They weren't in their own territory. They were on open blockaded waters. They attacked the IDF soldiers who at first, used paint guns for pete;s sake. Erdogen paid IHH thugs AKA Activists" $10,000.00 each and he was forewarned and acted aggressively and summarily punished for their acts of terror, FILMED and then make a circus by the clown Erdogen who rules like a man hell bent on running one of the few sources of ready cash from Israeli's visiting as tourists. KEEP BUILDING ISRAEL, ONE JEWISH HOME AT A TIME!!

yes lets say isreal had every right to board the ship did she have to kill 10 people mostly point blank shots to the back of the head which implies they were killed when running away your saying that they were "terrorist" how many isarelis those terrorrists kill? they have captured an israeli soldier why was he not killed? when palmer committe was established i didint think for a second isreal will be found guilty thats not because she was right etc it was because she has influence over politicians, or why do you think usa saves israel from un condemnation everytime? us jews may ring some bells ;) i dont care what erdoğan thinks or does he only represents his electorates views and he has beef with you apperantly :) i agree on putting this matter to bed and colaborate on othr fields apart from military, but before doing so those who are responsible for joy killing of 10 people should be brought to the book, if israel did not kill and tried those who resisted, you would have my full support but i cant support a summary execution, pay their families apologize doesnt matter in my opinion justice is what counts ;) btw did the gas start flowing in? hows the process?

The ship was not on the "blockaded waters" but on the international waters. Each ship on the international waters represents sovereign area. Entering of this area without the permission of the captain is piracy. If the Turks wanted lynch the Israeli soldiers they would have done that. They overhelmed and disarmed some soldiers. Why did they treat their injuries instead lynch them?

The MAVI MARMARA declared its intent to breach the fully legal and internationally recognized blockade of the Gaza Strip. Having telegraphed its intentions well in advance, there was no legal need -- there never is, actually, when one acts to thwart a breach of a legal blockade -- to wait for the vessel to reach closer to the Gaza shore. Moreover, dufous, Gaza is nonsovereign and therefore HAS no "territorial waters." The captain was asked his intended port of call. He responded he intended to berth in Gaza. He was informed that he was in imminent danger of breaching Israel's fully legal and internationally recognized blockade of the Gaza Strip, and was ordered to heave to, and prepare to turn around. He refused. He was ordered a second time. He refused. Israel thus had every right to board the MAVI MARMARA, in order to protect against a breach by a self-declared blockade runner. GAZA IS NOT A LEGAL PORT OF CALL UNDER EVERY RECOGNIZED MARITIME CONVENTION. Interdicting a blockade runner is NEVER piracy. EVER. The Turks did their level best to kill the Israeli commandos who boarded the vessel. That is why nine died in situ, and the tenth was put into an irreversible coma, from which he passed away. Israeli medics were on board to treat the Israeli injured. The Turkish terrorists did not include any medically-trained personnel in their ranks. The Turks should count their lucky stars. Interdicting vessels attempting to breach a fully legal and internationally recognized blockade is most often carried out with two or three well placed torpedoes. Finally, what part of the Palmer Report did you NOT understand? That's the final word on the subject of Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip. Whether the Turks realize it or not, in demanding that the United Nations convene the Palmer Commission, they unwittingly left themselves open to precisely what happened -- full exoneration of Israel's actions, and the unwitting acceptance of 193 member states of the United Nations of Israel's fully legal and internationally recognized blockade of the Gaza Strip. By the way, the four-member panel included one Turk. I bet you didn't know that. Well, now you do.
40. #38 In which parallel reality do you live?
Albrecht ,   EU   (05.29.14)
"The Turks did their level best to kill the Israeli commandos who boarded the vessel." 1. The Turks overwhelmed and disarmed some Israeli soldiers. 2. They kept them captive 3. It takes only one second to kill such a person. 4. But the Turks treated the wounds of the soldiers instead killing them. You mean, they treated the wounds of the soldiers to kill them healthy? In which parallel reality do you live? Each police in the world is able (even by use of the firearms!) to overwhelm hooligans (or terrorists) WITHOUT KILLING THEM. Even the strongest man can't fight with some holes in the legs. But it seems to be much to difficult for the "most moral army in the world".

Are you talking to yourself, again? You addressed your post to yourself ... hmm. Deeply subliminal. Okay, next time Israel will enforce its fully legal and internationally recognized blockade of the Gaza Strip by blowing any vessel attempting to run the blockade out of the water. There is CERTAINLY no reason to endanger any Israeli commandos by actually having them board a vessel that is committing an illegal act. You are one twisted little puppy. Get some psychiatric help -- your hatred of Jews and of the State of Israel has seriously addled your ability to think properly.
42. #41, some blabla, threats, insults and ZERO answer..
Albrecht ,   EU   (06.03.14)
The Turks WANTED to kill israeli soldiers... by threatening of their wounds. Therefore the Israeli soldiers "defended themself" and executed 9(!) people. You are so pathetic.
43. YipYip @ it Again

@42 My, you truly are a very damaged individual. Sarah answered your nonsensical question with actual facts. Just because you are too dense to understand really is your problem, no-one elses. By the way, waiting several days to post your reply shows how frightened you are of facing someone who is clearly far beyond you intellectually.
44. #43 "frightened". You people are so funny.
Albrecht ,   EU   (06.05.14)
Yes, I was sooooo frightened, that I decided to make 4 days holidays (a long weekend). How can you know that in some countries in Europe Mai of the 29th is an (free) Ascencion Day? No way. "Frightened" lol.
