1. Sisters and brothers, we urge, return home, to Israel. Here,
N.L.Katz ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.30.14)
in Israel, among your own people, you'll be in a position to live freely as Jews and take part in a historic process: the dynamic development and cultivation of the liberal democratic and sovereign nation-state of the Jewish people, the State of Israel; and, the Jewish society for whose members this state is the only home. Come home, ascend to Israel now!!
2. I read the article in a foreign paper
Sagi   (05.30.14)
This is a relatively small community. It is made up 100% of a traditional Mayan culture, indigenous peoples who have inhabited this place for centuries. Suddenly 10 ultra orthodox Jewish families arrive and start building ritual baths and swinging chickens and walking about in strange black garb with long white socks and funny hats. Let's be empathetic about this, put yourself in their shoes, wouldn't you be scared, would you not see this as an encroachment on your society and way of life and culture, would you not feel threatened. Of course you would, I understand them completely. This has zero to do with antisemitism or racism per se. These people are frightened, just as I or you would be in a similar situation. I also do not understand what these people are looking for in such a place, what motivated them to come here in the first place, perhaps it is a strong latent and inborn desire to revitalize the Shtetle environment and mentality, but why do they think they have the right to impose it on others who do not wish to have it.
3. town losses jews should not be there. list any products the
ralph   (05.30.14)
export so i will not buy them.
4. Why call it "antisemitism"?
Robert Haymond ,   Teko'a, Israel   (05.30.14)
People reside in a small, enclosed rural native community and then a significantly large group of people alien to their ways appear to invade and precipitously alter the landscape and why wouldn't the longtime residents become alarmed? This is not the way to enter a community and its understandable that its residents fight back against modernization by forcing the newcomers out. It wouldn't have mattered who the strangers were, Jews ot not.
5. One would think it was
Holy Warrior ,   UK   (05.30.14)
the west bank, and the jews were that arabs..
6. The prosperity of that town is going with the Jews. They
Rivkah   (05.30.14)
will learn. Ho.Ho.Ho. Elohim is an avenger.
7. This is not typical for Guatemala
Eric R. ,   USA   (05.30.14)
The country has seen a huge growth in Evangelical Protestantism and away from the Catholic church, so as a whole, the populace is more pro-Israel than it used to be.
8. Well... they merely repeat what Obama said. Live
Miron ,   USA   (05.30.14)
where I permit, and your life will be very goot. With such leaders how can we complain about followers.
9. Send in some shabakniks to help them leave and
Shadoil79 ,   Jerusalem   (05.30.14)
Then leave havoc by in one way or another to rid the world of these nazi pigs!
10. Lev Tahor sect
Arnold ,   Montreal-Canada   (05.30.14)
It took me a few moments to realize that this report is probably about the Lev Tahor sect that ran away from Canadian authorities. I am a Canadian of Jewish ancestry and I do not relate to the Lev Tahor people so I can imagine the Guatamalans meeting up with them. I do not know where the Lev Tahor folks should go to. Israel maybe but they do not believe in Israel. Only when the Redemption comes will they believe in a Jewish homeland. Bottom line they are on par with the crazy islamists but they do not kill their own or others.
11. The mayor is a jerk....
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (05.30.14)
Jesus was different and this small minded mayor would probably have given him the boot too. It would be nice to see this mayors life take a turn for the worse until he repents and asks the Jews to come back.
12. Guatemalan town uses Nazi-inspired tactics to expel Jews
George Weiss ,   Teaneck, USA   (05.30.14)
At least they believe the Holocaust occurred (they are not deniers but coppiers). Hitler is back from the grave.
13. Shocking?- yes. Surprising?- not. Europe, you're not alone.

16. when in Rome
arne ,   chicago usa   (05.30.14)
behave like a Roman and do what the Romans do or get the hell out.
17. The prosperity of that town is going with the Jews. They
Rivkah   (05.30.14)
will learn. Ho.Ho.Ho. Elohim is an avenger.
18. Usually, the Catholics murder Jews. Those Jews must
Rivkah   (05.30.14)
have been too smart to be poisoned or stabbed or strangled or shot. That takes some supernatural protection and wisdom for Jews to survive in a Roman Catholic area. The hatred of Roman Catholics for Jews is unfathomable. I have survived Roman Catholic attacks because Elohim guarded me and brought me back to life supernaturally many times.
19. GOOD!!!
(05.30.14)
We should start doing the same
20. Goyim just being Goyim
paulD ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.30.14)
If all the knowledge and moral teachings were to be available to every human being, nothing would change in their obsessions of Jews, because rottenness is an incurable inherited disease.
21. zionist?
o rly ,   nyc   (05.31.14)
i don't see what the zionist are complaining about. these people are simply trying to maintain the character of their nation, and preserver their identity by removing infiltrators. isnt that the correct way to behave?
22. Reading this story
(05.31.14)
its hard to believe that the source of the problem lies with the villagers rather than with this Misael Santos guy and the tourists he attracted. It's disturbing that most commenters here call down curses on the villagers as if they could not possibly have any cause for complaint.
23. 1, If all world's Jews lived in Israel, it would be poor
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (05.31.14)
...with no influence, as in past. It is the diaspora Jew's talent, wealth, power, influence, in Science, Arts, Hollywood, US and UK Media, Global Finance, US Congress, Britain, Russia, Europe, which makes Israel rich, influential, and an economic, and military, regional superpower.
24. #10, They don't have lev tahor, they violate local customs.
Michael ,   California, USA   (05.31.14)
I am joining with the Mayans in that village to get the invaders out of there. The Mayans have the right to preserve their customs and their way of living. Next thing we'll see is the Ultra Orthodox Jews spitting on little girls.
25. Guatamala and the Jewish people
Sjoerd van der Velde ,   Hoorn, Holland   (05.31.14)
Unfortunately, for example, also that can be considered, as a form of Anti-semitism. Anti-semitism is a kind of Xenophobia (one people against another/several other people(s)/all every, other people(s), which also is a crime against humanity/the world-population and humankind. Also written down in law, constitution and legislation. That is punishable, since 1945 in (nearly/almost) every country, internationally and on global level. Also, Israel, forever, ever and always! May G.d bless the Jewish, Israeli and every, other people(s), too!
26. Outta there
Simcha ,   NYC USA   (06.01.14)
Go to Costa Rica if you must live in Central America...or Israel should charter a small plane to rescue them. If they stay, it will not be pretty. You cannot change indigenous people who are still living in the 17th century..
27. Times of Israel Says Lev Tahor
James Loughton ,   USA   (06.01.14)
Per the Times - "Residents have filed complaints with the municipality that the community of ultra-religious Jews have used a public body of water as a mikveh (ritual bath), practiced unhygienic rituals like kaparot (where a chicken is swung around a rabbi’s head before being slaughtered), and made disparaging comments about immodesty to tourists. According to the mayor, the indigenous population has also been suspicious since a Canadian couple accused of child abuse reportedly moved to San Juan La Laguna with their six children. “There is almost every other religion here, and there have never been any problems. When they came, there started to be ill will,” the mayor said of the Jewish families. " All of the above actions will be familiar to those who know the haredim.
28. Well, how many Jewish Settlements allow non-Jews
Silva ,   NYC   (06.01.14)
Do you really think the world has to accommodate you in ways you don't accommodate others?
29. Antisemitism
Hadi Eid Ph.D ,   Monteverde, Lebanon   (06.01.14)
Ok. Jews across centuries were hated, persecuted and avoided by all peoples they got in touch or lived with. Can an honest Jew step in and tell me WHY?
30. to #28 in Israel there are arabs KMs.
Lily   (06.01.14)
I don't know how many Hispanic parliament members you have in the Capital.
