1. There is no Palestinians!Bedouin,Yes!
Benny ,   Iran   (06.08.14)
For a professor to write history in such a feeble way is a great shame. He should have noted that in San Remo 1920,(UN) 51 countries (including the U.S.) overwhelmingly approved the Palestine Mandate as the Jewish national homeland. It included 75% of what is now Jordan. The evil Brits were given the task of drawing the map. They "stole" what was Jewish land & decided to give it to the Arabs instead to curry favor for oil, influence etc. The Arabs were given the lion's share, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, Iraq. But the greedy Arabs wanted to gobble up everything, including the "little dot" Israel. They kept waging wars vs Israel & kept whining to get it back. Look at how they destroy each other, in Iraq, Syria, Libya, Darfur, etc. They keep sneaking into Israel to evade their evil task-masters up to now. And then, they have the chutspah to call this little land as "occupied." The Arabs are the "occupiers. Call a spade a spade, Professor!
2. wrong :Resolution 181 created an ARAB STATE not a palestinia
Laurence ,   israel   (06.08.14)
MR Jonathan Adelman as a professor at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver and Asaf Romirowsky as the executive director of Scholars for Peace in the Middle East (SPME) you should be more accurate in your terminology. Resolution 181 called for the creation of a Jewish state and an ARAB state !! Absolutly not a Palestinian state. At the time the so-called palestinians defined themselves as arabs. They never called themselves palestinians. It is only when Arafat came back from exile in 1967 that he started to create the myth of a palestinian people.

Madeleine ,   i   (06.08.14)
You are correct. At that time, no self-respecting Arab would call himself Palestinian, a term still reserved for the Jews of Palestine. I have never heard the Arabs who remained in Israel, called Palestinians. there were - are - Israeli Jews and Israeli Arabs/Druze/Beduin. The Brits, of course, created the country of Trans-Jordan - all of Palestine east of the Jordan River, as a homeland for the Arabs of Palestine. Today those Arabs bear Jordanian citizenship.

Excellent point. Ottoman census records going back several hundred years defined only the Jews as Palestinians. Arabs were always classed either as "Arab" or "Bedouin." The British did the same thing during the mandate period. The "Palestinians" have co-opted that identity from the Jewish people. Having never created anything of any worth, having contributed nothing to civilization (terrorism doesn't qualify as a "contribution"), having built nothing, at any time, every, all they can do is steal and promote a so-called "history" that is as fictional as their imaginary "state." I guess the international community is either (i) incredibly uneducated and dumb; or (ii) so jealous and hating of Jews that they are willing to support a parasitic terrorist rabble.
5. Still buys into "palestinian" narrative
Aharon   (06.08.14)
I agree with the authors general direction here, but they too buy into the "palestinian" narrative by calling the Arabs in pre-1948 "palestinians" and refer to Arab-Israelis with the same term. There has never been a sovereign state called Palestine! Therefore, there cannot be a people called Palestinians. There are people who refer to themselves by this name, we know who they are, but it's more appropriate to call them "palestinians," with quotes, to denote the artificiality of this name.
6. British imported 4k arabs
lemmings hotline ,   sd usa   (06.08.14)
illegally to impede the formation of a Jewish state
7. talks did not fail
(06.08.14)
The talks did not fail, they achieved exactly what was planned. Israel made many very serious concessions, the PLO made none. After 6 years of the Obama regime, Israel is much weaker and PLO much stronger. No one can say that that wasn't Obama's and Abbas' plan from the start.

Thank you. While I have always used the quotation marks, I have used an upper case "P." Going forward, I shall refer to the ersatz ones as "palestinians." Lower case. The only true Palestinians have always been the Jewish people. Now, we have Israel and are Israelis. The "palestinians" in Judea and Samaria will have to pull up stakes. Since Abbas is so incredibly proud of his "unity government," we'll ship 'em all out to Gaza, where they can build their imaginary state. In fact, I hope they are granted sovereign state status. First missile that flies is an act of war. I think we all know who will win that one.
9. good article

challenged, 2: Jewish academics are among the worst of these, since they add that unexplained, Jewish self hate into the equation. A professor to boot, Oy Vey! Arab does not a "Palestinian" equal....

history is -what is happening - not what you write or remember .... sure resultes are fore what is happening .. becouse of that iam quiet enough but not forget
12. You forget one thing! Resolution 181 was illegal
Larry ,   Or Yehuda   (06.08.14)
under international law. The UN did not have a legal right to partition so called Palestine under the laws of the League of Nations. Transjordan was created as the Arab Government of the East, one of its first names. The 25% of the Palestine mandate which was left after appeasing Faisal was to be become the future Jewish state.

Shachar ,   Eilat   (06.09.14)
The Palestinians have achieved little in the last 80 years while Israel can be proud it's achievements, many of them quite remarkable in difficult conditions. When Palestinians learn to build instead of destroy we will all prosper.
15. United Jerusalem
Joseph ,   London England   (06.09.14)
Regarding East Jerusalem, a large % of Arabs prefer to remain part of israel. Who would want to risk being governed by Hamas? Not so long back most US senators, including Senators Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton called for Jerusalem to be the united capital city of Israel. The US Congress has called on several successive presidents to move the USA embassy to Jerusalem.
