1. Manipulation of history, A LIE.
Z. Lazkow   (06.06.14)
Dday was NOT an important event in WWII, and it wasn't even a major event in WWII. But American media and ynet too, is making this event look like an event "that would eventually lead to the end of Hitler, the Nazis, and World War II". It's a SHAMELESS LIE and manipulation of history. The WHOLE WWII was the war between Germany and Soviet Union. The so called "allied forces" contributed very little to the outcome of the war. Soviet Army on its own has destroyed the German Army, all the way from the most vicious and bloodiest battles in Russia( like Kursk, Stalingrad, Moscow..etc.) to Battle on Berlin in April 1945 and the victory. NOBODY of "allied forces" has intervened since June 1941 until the dday in june 1944. Where were "allied forces" when Soviet Army needed them desperately during the first 2 years of the war ??? Why dday in June 1944, just eight months before the end of the war, and not in 1942 ? 1943 ? Soviet Army didn't need "allied" help, when they were already deep into Germany and advancing towards Berlin. Russian Army was ready to enter Berlin on their own without any particular problems. But US couldn't afford it to happen. US couldn't show the "americanpeople" that not US, but Russia entered Berlin alone. 4,500 killed allied troops on dday. How just this can be compared to over 1 million killed Russian troops in Battle on Kursk, for example, and half-million killed Russian troops in Battle of Stalingrad ??????? D-day had NOT even a slightest impact on the outcome of the war. It's an american created lie, a hollywood script. ALL the years of WWII, US was playing war games with japan, pretending they are in WWII, and telling americans stories about "heroic" US army. So "heroic" that they decided to drop two a-bombs on Japan THREE months after the END of WWII, to stop american losses.
2. Ratio of divisions
David ,   Los Angeles   (06.06.14)
The Germans deployed about 500 divisions against the Soviet Union, and just over one hundred on the Western fronts (France and Italy and North Africa) If there had been no western challenge those extra divisions could have been deployed against the Soviet Union. and if so it is not clear if the USSR could have one. Also where was the USSR before it was attacked by Germany, and England stood alone, The USSR was an Ally of Germany at that time. they only changed sides because they were attacked. Not so heroic.
3. Yeah Yeah, Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact !

4. WW2 Revisionism
Christy ,   Boston, US   (06.06.14)
I'm surprised at how some regard - or don't - events from WW2. Despite all evidence to the contrary there are people who refuse to acknowledge the WW2 Holocaust (they've been around for a while - unfortunately). I've just started to encounter another type of revisionist - those who believe the Soviet Union contributed the most during WW2 and the Allies barely contributed anything. I wish my relatives knew it wasn't necessary for them to risk their lives in WW2 - they could have stayed home and just left everything up to the Soviet Union! It's very hard to reason with the various revisionists.
5. Z Laskov . You are the LIAR
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.06.14)
It were not the soviets who liberated France , Belgium , Holland , Italy and so on . You compare the killed in ONE day to those of a big battle . The Japanese did surrender ONLY after the bombs their country , so the war was not finished there then . And what about the help the soviets received from the USA ?
6. #2, WRONG - Germany:150 Divisions, 3 million troops
Z. Lazkow ,   israel   (06.06.14)
You're totally wrong or you're trying to mislead: Here is the TRUE numbers from many sources, all give more or less the same statistics. On June 22, 1941 German Army: -------------------- 150 divisions containing a total of about 3,000,000 men. 3,000 tanks, 7,000 artillery pieces, 2,500 aircraft. Plus some 30 divisions of Finnish and Romanian troops. Russian Army: --------------------- 5,500,000 men 15,000–25,000 tanks, 35,000–40,000 aircraft By August 1941 Russian Army had 200 more fresh divisions, total of 360. So, the numbers show the complete opposite. Russian Army was bigger and stronger. German army succeeded in the first couple months, because of the surprise factor. Hitler, Ribbentrop thought that they can fool Stalin. Yes, Stalin made mistakes. One of the most famous russian agents was Richard Zorge, who reported to Stalin when and where Germany will attack USSR. Stalin underestimated his reports, BUT was ready for the attack, although not completely.
7. History and Hollywood
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (06.06.14)
Where were Allies when Soviets needed them? Soviet Union enetered war as H*tler's ally in the invasion of Poland. With the fall of France it was Great Britain that alone led the response to German aggression. Stalin joined the war only when H*tler invaded Russia, after failing to overpower Britain. The largest number of soldiers on D-Day were British and Empire forces, using equipment invented or improved by British scientists. It's very true that Hollywood rewrote history giving the Americans top billing, even inventing a story that American prisoners were held in Colditz, which never saw an American. America DID play a big role in defeating H*tler, but a lesser role than Britain and Russia.
8. It was everybody
JS ,   USA   (06.06.14)
The fact is Germany lost WW2 because of its own mistakes. Like fighting too many fronts. One of them being in the Russian winter. He should have learned from Napoleon that it would be a disaster. Even still Germany almost won the war regardless of these mistakes. It was a massive effort by ALL the Allied country's that killed Germany, barely.
9. #1-Deranged and just wrong!!!
Koose E Mack ,   NY USA   (06.06.14)
No one can deny the sacrifice and carnage that took place on the Eastern Front. The Soviet Union lost millions of civilians and combatants. However, D-Day was a significant event. In fact, Stalin begged the Allies to open a Western Front to prevent The Nazis from devoting all their military strength to the Eastern Front! G-d bless all the Allied Soldiers who participated in the invasion of Normandy; especially those that made the ultimate sacrifice! G-d bless their memories.
10. Z. Lazkow #1 Two things saved Russia
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (06.06.14)
Your harsh winters and the U.S. giving arms to Russia. Has we not carpet bombed Germany Russia would not have made it to Berlin. The Russians fought hard but without help would have ended up like France. Your take on our war with Japan shows that when it comes to WW2 you know nothing. The atomic bombs we dropped on Japan saved lives on both sides. If we would have had to invade Japan like we did Europe so many more would have died. I wish you could have been in Nanking China to see how the Japanese played games. Your whole post is garbage.
11. #10, You know lies and speak lies...
Z. Lazkow ,   israel   (06.07.14)
You speak what you know. And what you know is A LIE. You know what Hollywood tells you, which is cheap entertainment. You've been brainwashed by Hollywood to believe that great america saved the Russia and the world. American help to Russia was negligent and ineffective. Russian army hated american tanks and american rifles. For your information: Russia produced much much better weapons, for example. Better planes: Il-2s & Yaks and better tanks: T-34 & the KV-2 , as you know. My father fought at the bloodiest battles for Kursk. He never saw any american weapon. American drops two a-bombs on japan, because they continued suffering losses and had to save their faces. 3 months after the official end of WWII, "great america" couldn't deal with japan. So, they found an easy way. two bombs killed close to 500,000 people. and you say that it saved many lives ......??? You are dreaming a hollywooood dream, sir.
12. 11 , again , you are the LIAR
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.07.14)
"3 months after the official end of WWII " you wrote . It was only the end of the war against Nazi Germany , not the end of WWII as a whole . The Japanese didn't end the war in May 1945 , they fought till they received those two A bombs , and surrendered in August . Those a bombs killed half a million Japanese ? They saved thousands , if not more , of US lives . It were the western forces who liberated west Europe , not the soviets . The Soviets fought hard , had millions of deaths , but they were invaded by Nazi Germany . The US was not invaded , nor attacked , by Nazi Germany , they came to liberate us . The US has send much material to the soviet union , that was , contrary to your lies , helpful and effective .
