1. Farce farce and farce again
Sagi   (06.10.14)
Freeloaders seeking self glorification. Unelected and unwanted by anyone. Useless position, costing untold millions while pensioners and paupers and children go unfed. Disgusting 120 members of Parliament. Their day of reckoning with the Israeli public is drawing ever closer.
2. Who will be Israel's next president? In other words,
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.10.14)
Who will get honored with receiving Israeli citizens' hard-earned money for doing nothing besides meddling into the Prime Minister's affairs instead of giving it to the poor?
3. Democracy Israel style
Miri   (06.10.14)
And naturally the public have no say in this- what a surprise
4. Disgusting
Taxpayer ,   Hod Hasharon   (06.10.14)
The vote is held up so that one of the ultra orthodox MK can get instuctions from the foreign agent that controls him which way to vote - disgusting
5. Sagi
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.10.14)
This is what we get for whoring after gentile forms of government. Because the gentiles have both a prime minister and president so must we. The government is a government of elitest whores. You are right, their day of reckoning is coming.
6. #4 Disgusting?
Shmulik ,   Israel   (06.10.14)
I read and re-read the article 3 times to see if I missed that important tidbit. No mention of it anywhere. But there's always some ultra-orthodox angle to everything that goes on in Israel, isn't there? So anonymous taxpayer's allegation must be true. And anyway, we all know that "the Jews, er, the haredim, are our misfortune." You tell me what's disgusting.
7. Since the Presidential position is of pure representative
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.10.14)
function the FACES should be of uttermost importance! You tell me.....(?!)
8. Fortunate for the Jewish nation that not one
Larry ,   Or Yehuda   (06.10.14)
of them was religious! Therefore far less corrupt
9. I choose Rivlin for what its worth
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.10.14)
I am a Mizrachi Jew and I want the shknozer to win. Enough rapists and child molesters have had their chance and let us down. The shknuzon looks slightly less slimy than does Shitrit also.
10. I'd like to send YNet and Haaretz
Miron ,   USA   (06.10.14)
to Syria. For educational purposes to familiarize with their brand of peace and democracy. I will even translate from English to Hebrew all insignia on the exploding munitions, in case they have language barrier. And then move on with Reuters, CNN, AP and rest of happy family.
11. Vote for Dalia Itzik!!!!!
Mathilde   (06.10.14)
12. Finally a normal president
Shmuel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.10.14)
Finally we have someone in a high position that has conservative views. Maybe we are getting somewhere. On another note, I agree that we should do away with this position to save money, especially when so many people in Israel live below the poverty level. @ Larry: I hate to break it to you. On average, the religious are more honest than the non-religious. Sorry to inform you. The non-religious take bribes to line their pockets. If someone religious takes bribes it usually goes to charity.
13. congratulations
(06.10.14)
It is great news that the honest and honorable Ruby Rivlin will now be Israel's president. For too long, Shimon Peres, the most hated man in Israeli politics who Rabin called a "despicable backstabber", held power. President Rivlin, we wish you success. Shimon, take a long vacation far from the spotlights. We are sick of you.
14. Peres is a revered gentleman everywhere
Lou ,   Bucharest   (06.12.14)
he goes, unlike Katzav whom nobody "hated" until it proved to be the most despicable of all. Well, gentlemen like gentlemen, and villains like villains.
