1. another obama mistake
henry   (06.12.14)
this is the fault of abama & his continuous liberal policy. is the liberal policy stupid or evil?
2. british, french & hatred of Israel created these problems
zionist   (06.12.14)
After WW1 the British & French got mandates to create new countries in the former Ottoman Middle East but they choose borders and leaders that were best for their interests not the locals. Borders were whats good for us and the leaders were mostly Heshimite princes imported from Saudi Arabia to be pro European puppet kings. Then the UN voted on partition of Palestine in 1947 and the puppet kings announced if partition happened they would align themselves with the Soviet Union and the result was the puppet kings were toppled by pro Soviet regimes. The US needs to avoid the mistakes made by the empires and not get involved in trying to prop up puppet democracies because it will cost alot of money and its will fail eventually anyway. Let the locals fight it out chose their leaders even if they are islamists and then decide how to deal with the new regimes when they are established.
3. Obama
Arturo   (06.12.14)
Obama handed Iraq to his Islamist buddies. Abdullah in Jordan better watch his back.
4. So, pro Al Qaeda in Syria, anti Al Qaeda in Iraq
Dror ,   Haifa, Israel   (06.12.14)
Obama and Kerry are laughing stocks. If they dare try to meddle in our affairs again their demise will be hastened more and more. America is on her way to a devastating financial collapse. The world knows, apparently it is only the zomibified American public and whore like Israelis that refuse to believe it will happen.
5. Go Kurds, go. Long live independent Kurdistan!

6. "islam" and "islam"-Bagdad/"islam"-Iraq
Sjoerd van der Velde ,   Hoorn, Holland   (06.12.14)
An end to the "islam"-world, for a free and democratic world, on the land-scape/land-part, in the world of our planet of Earth. (For example, also) the Jewish and Israeli people, for ever and always! May G.D bless Israel (,too)!
7. The consequences of western naivete
Nick Z ,   New York, NY   (06.12.14)
hm, according to CNN, AP, Reuters, AFP and most other media who are toeing the exact same party line (it is so much easier for them to just say exactly what AP decrees instead of doing their own research), the West must support (and indeed are supporting) the Syrian "rebels", oops, "activists" (the latest euphemism the media is throwing around), because they are fighting for "freedom" and because "Assad must go". (Even YNet mostly just repeats what AP says, even when it is obviously and glaringly different from what people in the region are personally experiencing). But it is exactly the same so-called "activists" who are marching on Baghdad now and undoing whatever good came out of our ill-advised intervention there ten years ago. The U.S. is still training so-called "rebels" in Jordan at our expense. Giving them anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons. So when they are done with Syria and Iraq, they can take over Jordan and then set their sights on the U.S. (imagine their U.S.-made anti-aircraft guns at JFK) just like Osama bin Laden (who was a supposed "ally" in the 1980's because he was against the Soviets). No, these guys are bloodthirsty radicals and jihadists. An "activist" is e.g. someone who works for civil rights or more just laws. What the western media calls "activists" in Syria, Iraq and Egypt are typically the exact opposite of that. In fact, the first thing these "activists" do when they take over is to take away people's civil rights, forcing women to cover up head to toe, whipping and amputating for trivial "offenses", and torturing gays, Christians, Alawites, Druse, non-extremist Sunnis and Shi'ites to death (and Jews too, if they weren't already exterminated from those areas by their predecessors).
8. Iraq is no longer viable concept
Cameron ,   USA   (06.13.14)
Time for a carving up along religious and ethnic lines for new "statelets."
