1. Abbas doesn't want or is afraid to compromise on core issues
Sam ,   Canada   (06.23.14)
That makes him an unsuitable partner for peace. A suitable partner for peace is ready to compromise on the core issues. Those who call Abbas a suitable partner fall into the regular trap of giving Palestinians free concessions (prisoners, freeze) and achieving nothing.
2. Not good enough
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.23.14)
He is still screaming about his terrorists that died aiding and abetting the kidnappings
3. It's just a conflict between Abbas and Hamas
RickD ,   USA   (06.23.14)
Abbas is not a brave man. While it may seem that these statements are unexpected it would be foolish to believe that these are some kind of morality or statesmanlike actions by Abbas. Hamas can do what it likes in Gaza. In the WB Abbas is king. He doesn't tolerate anyone taking hostages without his permission. If Netanyahu proves that this kidnapping happened under Abbas' nose by his unity 'partner' Abbas will be the loser. Abbas is simply defending himself and his own rule. The iDF is doing what Abbas cannot do, tear out Hamas from WB, root and branch. Abbas is in a tight spot no matter what, but he has taken action against Hamas, who were trying to stab him in the back.
4. Israel must collapse the genocidal PA.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.23.14)
The Israeli left has proven itself infallibly wrong on every major issue since Israel was founded. From Oslo to Disengagement to the Golan to...everything. Not surprisingly, this far left author is also dead wrong about Abbas. Israel needs to collapse Abbas and the genocidal PA.
5. Israel has a partner in Abbas
Syd Chaden ,   Palermo Calif USA   (06.23.14)
The author of this article should ask Abbas if he has renounced the Islamic doctrine of "death to infidels". If he has, he undoubtedly will be killed by other Muslims who consider him to be an "infidel". And, if he hasn't, then he hardly is a "partner{, is he?
6. Dear Author: Ben-Dror Yemini
Israeli 2   (06.23.14)
Would you be honest as to admit that your writings are only to insult or aggravate right wing ideology while you yourself know that you write very non-nonsensical and very illogical things such as "Israel has a partner in Hamas" or Abbas (same thing). Just because he said it in Arabic he is turned into a hero? You suppose to be intelligent....no? Why then do you and your leftist herd do this again and again? Is this sort of writing your bread and butter?
7. Deluded twit
ggg ,   Tel Aviv   (06.23.14)
Take off my hat to Abbas? For what? For lying his head off? He knew very well what the aims of Hamas were when he created a "government" with them, but he knows how to sing for his supper... to deceive the west. I'll take off my hat to Abbas, alright... at his funeral. Partner, my boot!!!
8. The author is TOTALLY credulous and
carlos ,   Sn Diego U.S.   (06.23.14)
frankly stupid. He believes murderous and crooks. Like Kerry with the Iranians. So if somebody talks nice, you believe him? HEY SIR, HAVE YOU HEARD THE SAYING "TALK IS CHEAP"?.
9. Israel has a mass murdering genocidal foe in Abbas.
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.23.14)
What can you expect from leftists who urged Israel to cede the Golan barely a year ago?? What can you expect from leftists, who have been dangerously wrong about every major issue since Israel was founded? You can expect them to write idiotic articles, like this author does. Fatah is an even more dangerous terrorist group than Hamas; by every yardstick. It maims and murders far more Israelis. Abbas is the Holocaust Denying, mass murdering liar, who leads this horriffic group.
10. P street wants Revenge but Reality is Truce
Zechariah   (06.23.14)
Is this nationalistic and religious conflict the Palestinians want Revenge for Jewish Conquests. Therefore the Kidnappings are a Victory for them . But the Jews are Seared by the Holocaust and the Arabs were not innocent .The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem collaborated with the Genocide .There were Moderates amongst the Arabs even for a partition in 1937 that would have saved millions of Jews. They are Partners .
11. Now that "Monty Python" is reuniting, maybe you should re-
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.23.14)
view some of their lunatic but funny stuff. Watch & learn Yemini, because as for now you sound only lunatic. Every additional refute of your Never-never Land theory is unnecessary.
12. Stupidity and idiocy alert
Wally Right   (06.23.14)
If you're an idiot (in the original Greek sense of the word, someone who doesn't understand the civic and political world in which they live), then you get to be in the Yediot often... A perfect example is this article...
13. Numbnuts
Brett ,   Florida   (06.23.14)
Israel has a partner. If that statement is really how you feel Yemini, go and live amongst them. Put your life where your mouth is, big boy. I would bet you would not live till the end of the week.
14. When you come to live in Israel, I am prepared
Larry ,   Or Yehuda   (06.23.14)
to show you reality, because you are living in La La Land. Does it matter what Abbas says? He has no mandate. He has no followers among the PA. Jibril has taken the limelight. Even if he did have followers, what he says is one thing but you need to do something. Maybe 5 years down the road we will see if what he has done means anything. The PA incitement has shown that it has not. On teh other hand, his own FM is accusing Israel of staging the hostages as if we are Pallywooders
15. The correct verb is "had"
spyguy ,   seattle usa   (06.23.14)
Israel has so marginalized Abbas, it is very likely he will not be the leader of Palestine for very much longer. Israel has wasted decades by building settlements and treating Abbas like a fool. Eventually Abbas will die of quit, then Israel will be left with an extremely angry bunch of hopeless people ripe for the picking by very extreme leaders, like ISIL. Plus, Israel has so alienated the USA, WHEN the uprising comes the American public will not allow the US to help Israel. Israel has wasted decades and set up a very BAD future for itself.
17. YOU ARE A SICK MAN YEMINI
...DACON9   (06.23.14)
HOW MUCH MORE .... ISNT 4000 YEARS OF LOVE ENOUGH? You yemini actualy blindly accept his words? has he denounced and renounced his holocaust denials? dont ya know its all about money? and acceptance? he wants the world aid and you yemini believe him? i guess tzipi livni and yair lapid also made teshuva repentance.
18. Is BD Yemini brain dead ?
DT ,   TA Israel   (06.23.14)
19. Words-lies.
History nut ,   Israel   (06.23.14)
More fifth column tripe. He funds jailed murderers. Let's see action.
20. He said the same thing about Arafat
The Perescope ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.23.14)
Shimon Peres, Shimon Peres. Where have I heard that name before? Oh yes, wasn't he the genius who told us 21 years ago at Oslo that he found a peace partner in Arafat? With that record behind him, why on earth should we believe him now?
21. Yemini you sold your soul to the leftist devil
m   (06.23.14)
From Maariv to Ynet, from right to left, no compunction which means only one thing, you are a hypocrite and always were.
22. Hamas UNMASKED
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (06.23.14)
From deep within the bowels of Hamas a new ambition - kept TOP SECRET except for a couple of very recent boastful indiscretions last week on the back of ISIL success And that is their ambition to create a new ISGP Islamic State of Greater Palestine that includes Sinai, Gaza, Israel, West Bank and Jordan And in that context things begin to fit into place - From Hamas terrorism in and from Sinai, their attempted 'take over' of the West Bank under the guise of 'Unity' and their attempts to cause instability in Jordan THIS is Hamas UNMASKED Let NOBODY be fooled
23. Spyguy
Yossi ,   Yehudah   (06.23.14)
"...the American Public will not allow the US to help Israel..." Look at the American help in Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, Libya, Syria - who needs that kind of help! If I was you I would be would be embarrassed - let us worry about our future - if the US wants to support us in building our own future great - but we'll skip the HELLp.
24. #18:in not so many words, YES.He was born that way(Lady Gaga
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.23.14)
25. Very impressed with Ben-Dror
Shachar ,   Eilat   (06.23.14)
So there is some-one on the right who thinks and is prepared to have an intelligent opinion. Certainly makes a change from the ritual stream of empty slogansand vitriol.
26. Poor pathetic...
Susan ,   USA   (06.23.14)
....people we are to continually trust without deeds. Like children starved for affection, words of kindness has kindled our souls while leading us to destruction since time immemorial. Do not write off nor elevate the wolf in sheep's clothing until such time as the wolf proves with 'deeds' how trustworthy he or she truly is.
27. Lowering the standards of decency.
tiki ,   belgium   (06.23.14)
"Abbas spoke against terror & kidnapping"...... WOW! "In Arabic"...., a double WOW! Now, that's a man of peace. A man who has the stamina to say that terror & kidnapping is wrong! A real hero, with a high level of decency! So, The Nobel Peace Prize this year must be his for the taking, after all who in the world can compare to his level of decency? Right?.....Wrong! This man is a double faced terrorist who doesn't utter one tone if it doesn't benefit his end goal, "Palestine instead of Israel". For this goal he will say whatever needs to be said. He will suck up to the Europeans & US Hussain with all the tricks from his terrorist notebook. No, Mr. Yemeni, Israel doesn't have a peace partner in Abbas, only a wolf in sheep clothing!
28. Yemini is right
(06.23.14)
Yemini is right, only if you ignore reality. There were intense negotiations under Abbas' conditions with Obama showing him full support. Chief negotiator was Livni who admires Abbas, hates Netanyahu and is on record supporting all of Abbas' demands. Netanyahu was willing to make far-reaching compromises that would have him ejected from Likud, so he would, like Sharon, have to invent a new party with corrupt MKs to ratify the agreement, and despite this, Abbas left the negotiations and violated the minor agreements that were made.
29. You have GOT to be kidding!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (06.23.14)
Abbas is up to his sooty eyeballs in this kidnapping. He very quietly, and probably several layers removed from the fray, gave the order to tell Hamas to go ahead. His motives? Easy! He has two: 1. Either find a way to break the brand-new "unity agreement" with Hamas, or else make sure he remains fully in charge of the unified "palestinian" flotsam and jetsam; and 2. If all else fails -- and it will -- try to stave off the inevitable: annexation of Judea and Samaria and deportation of the "palestinians" to Gaza. He knew full well that Israel would dismantle Hamas' operations in the West Bank, and he knew full well that Israel would find, and appropriate, the bank accounts earmarked for funding terror operations against Israel and the Jewish people. While he is hoping to remain in Ramallah (that's not going to happen), he knows that he will quite likely end up in Gaza, and he wants to make sure that Hamas is rendered clawless and toothless while not actually withdrawing from the unity government. If anything happens to those boys, Abbas is to blame. Don't forget that.
30. article about Abbas
suzy ,   Paris France   (06.23.14)
Your article gives hope that Arab partners do exist, just as Peres and Olmert believe as well.
