Allow me to educate you with respect to the USS LIBERTY. The USS LIBERTY was a signals interceptor vessel which was dispatched to the Mediterranean ostensibly to keep an eye on things. By that time, Egypt had been soundly thrashed, and had surrendered. But Israel was still actively engaged on two fronts: against Jordan and against Syria. It was already evident just how staggering the Israeli victory would be, and President Johnson did not want the Arabs to be completely humiliated. The USS LIBERTY was thus tasked with eavesdropping on Israeli military communications, and to relay the content of those communications to the Jordanian and Syrian military high commands. And that is why the USS LIBERTY was blown out of the water. It was not an accident. The United States was interfering unconscionably in Israel's conduct of a shooting war. I defy you to name one country -- just one -- that would have acted differently. Do you have any idea how many thousands of Israelis have been killed by "palestinian" terrorists? Israel is a sovereign state and, as such, has an absolute and affirmative duty to protect and defend its citizens. This means against missiles and mortars fired by the assorted terrorist flotsam and jetsam in Gaza. If civilians die as a result of Israel's retaliatory strikes -- the onus is on the "palestinian" terrorists who do their nefarious work from civilian areas. In fact, by placing civilians in harm's way, the "palestinian" terrorists are guilty of crimes against humanity. These same terrorists also cache weapons in hospitals, schools and mosques, thereby turning these hospitals, schools and mosques into legitimate military targets.
