Very little of The IU condemned the unprovoked rocketing of virtually all of Israel. They only bemoan the collateral deaths of civilians in Gaza. Each placement of military assets in a civilian location in Gaza is a war crime, as is every launch against Israel's civilian population. In the emerging commitments to make Gaza whole, rebuilding what was damaged, and then some, they remove any disincentive against such aggression. Why would the US guarantee or sponsor a cease fire? The US has no leverage in Gaza or interests there. What would US "sponsorship" mean? Sounds like somebody is trying to involve the US in something that is counter to US interests. As far as anybody in the US knows, Kerry and Obama made an offer which Israel rejected. Israel already rejected any Kerry attempts to broker anything. The last thing the US brokered turned out to be hated by Israel, the 1701 Lebanon deal in 2006.
