If they are permitted to use an insanity plea to escape punishment for such a sadistic murder, there is no justice.
The adult with a history of mental problems may belong in a hospital rather than a prison but he is a serious danger to others and must be incarcerated for life - in that hospital or in prison.
The boys involved are old enough to understand that murder is murder. They must not be allowed to escape because of their ages. How close to 18 is that 17 year old anyway?

6,000,000 Jews murdered 70 years ago, many were burnt for being not of the same religion. Insanity? They are terrorists and their homes should be destroyed like all other terrorist homes.
