4. To No 2
Rachel ,   London UK   (07.23.14)
How dare you claim to speak for diaspora Jews as a whole? I, for one, would like to make it clear that I'm completely behind Israel. Go IDF!!!
5. German community counting in millions once ago...
Miron ,   USA   (07.23.14)
I whish I could see their children today. Even if their yells were much more passionate. The gloating English speaking press is oblivious in its arrogance how much they expose themselves for what they are.
6. How many?
Mark ,   London   (07.24.14)
How many Germans, French, Swedes etc will cry out "Allah Akbar"? Something tells me it is only a certain segment of the population who is participating in these demonstrations.

For your information   (07.23.14)
Sorry to inform you that 3 out of 4 victims are not civilians but shields. According to the international world, shields are destroyed in all wars together with the enemies.
8. You know...
Gady ,   Mexico City   (07.23.14)
It is your fault, my dear german jewish brothers. How many times do you need to be told: "Juden not willkomen in germanistan". Last time, if you don't remember, they tried to exterminate us. What in heavens' name are you looking for there?

The same civilians that gave 3 finger salutes when 3 Israeli teenagers were murdered and celebrated their deaths. Well, payback is no fun. When we carpet bombed Germany in WW2 I'm sure most of the dead were civilians. What do you think war is? Hamas shouldn't have started it if they can't take what they dish out.
10. Jews repeating history, dominating, facing another Holocaust
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (07.23.14)
Majorities don't like to be dominated by minorities, who abuse their hosts financially, politically, and militarily.
11. I agree, Hamas is the problem NOT Israel!
David ,   Native German   (07.23.14)
12. to #9 you are wrong, we don't shoot Hamas
Lily   (07.24.14)
as payback, we are not vendictive, we shoot at Hamas because the Israeli civilians are running couple times a day for shelter. Otherwise who will protect us if not us, no other country even officially stand by Israel side. Biden even criticized Bibi for over reacting. one of the 3 teen boys was american citizen but nobody cares.
13. #8 Gady, unfortunately you are 100% right!
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (07.25.14)
One cannot expect anything else coming from Germany; perhaps in 100, 150 years, but not right now. WWII is too recent, there's still perpetrators and victims alive. The soul, the values, he ideas of a people do not, cannot change in one or two generations; today's Germans seem to be affable, democratic, very nice - but being a concious Jewish, I would not like at all to raise my family there. The same applies for other communities in problematic countries such as Venezuela, Iran and - to a lesser degree- even in France. I had a distant cousin, a Holocaust survivor, who lived in Israel after WWII and, after havin a debilitating stroke, moved do Frankfurt so that he could have a more adequate medical treatment (he was entitled under the war claims settlements); about 20 years ago, younger and mor naïve, I mentioned to him that the Germans surely could not be the same, that they had changed - and he replied, after more than 10 years living there: 'some things never change'. What we see today in Europe is as unholy pact between the traditional far right and the emergin Islamic fundamentalism, in order to vilify Jews, to spread antisemitism under the guise of a more politically correct antizionism; it so happens that their prejudice is so strong, so vitriolic that in some cases they fail do disguise their true feelings, like that Imam did, and the ugly, genocidal face of millenia-old antisemitism resurfaces . Whenever we live in the Diaspora, we must learn to keep our eyes open, to follow closely any development that could affect our lives and to acknowledge, always and every day, again and again, that Israel is the only and true guarantor of our rights and our freedom to be Jewish, to live as Jews in our countris of birth.
14. @8 & 12 you are just racists towards Germany!
(07.25.14)
You obviously have never been to europe!
15. I hope there will be more people like Bernd Wierer
Anette ,   Essen, Germany   (07.26.14)
I walked past the old synagogue in my hometown the other day. Just to see this is now having to be protected by police, is so incredible and disgraceful. My parents who, as children, saw the same synagogue on fire cannot believe what they see and hear again today. With his words "We would never in our lives have thought it possible anymore that anti-Semitic views of the nastiest and most primitive kind can be chanted on German streets," Mr Graumann expressed exactly what we (and hopefully many people here) feel about the current demonstrations. Politics are one thing and there is nothing wrong with solidarity demonstrations (even if the majority is too one-sided) but using the humanitarian tragedy in Israel / Gaza for anti-Semitic propaganda is not only utterly disgusting but indeed most primitive and an offence to the dignity of ANYONE suffering in this conflict – Israeli or Palestinian. I hope there will be more people like the Berlin resident Bernd Wierer, who did not remain silent to the anti-Semitic slogans. Our past indeed demands particular vigilance to any kind of anti-Semitism – but it should be condemned and fought just as vigorously in any other country!
