There is no precedent or blueprint for a benevolent, just Arab government. In all Arab societies, you are either a somebody or a nobody. Barnea may be right: Netanyahu may see Abbas and Fatah as his savior, but then he will be wrong. It is clear that even the most powerful and popular Arab leader cannot survive Islamists: look at Mubarak or Assad. It is clear that the US and Europe will always support the most extreme Arab demand against Israel: look at how the US dumped Lebanon to support Hezbolla during Lebanon II or now how they dumped Abbas to support Hamas. It seems that to survive, Israel must go back to basics as outlined by Rabin and Netanyahu in his book: Israel sovereignty over all her land with secure borders, hostile Muslims repatriated to other Arab countries, exactly as found in the Likud Charter.
