The way this study appears to have been carried out (from the write-up in ynet, anyway, it shows one thing and one thing only: That those who make/partake in kiddush are less likely to be depressed. (As has been oft proven by studies before, religious people tend to be less depressed, for spiritual reasons and/or for the extended social support from belonging to a community, etc.) What kind of study in Israel asks about drinking alcohol once a week without controlling for kiddush?!

Alcohol is also highly addicting and causes a lot of damage to the body. Maybe Israeli researchers can do the world a favor and come up with a safe alternative.
