You're right but there's one little problem, hamas doesn't give a shit about live or dead Palestinians, they're only interested in showing that they can extract many in an exchange and that it pays to kidnap Israeli soldiers or civilians.

Only dead should be exchanged for dead. The more Israel gives to Hamas, the more they'll demand. In World War II, the Allies settled for nothing less than unconditional surrender. Not "limited objectives". No bombing of empty houses while the leadership lived it up in Qatar. The enemy didn't arrogantly provide a list of demands as if they won. The ICC and UN didn't stop the U.S. from bombing Germany because so many civilians died. But unlike in so many recent wars, the problem was solved. Today Germany and Japan are peaceful and productive states.
