2. So what?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.17.14)
Destruction and devastation is part and parcel of war. Israel's duty is to the citizens of Israel. Hamas was firing missile barrages and mortar barrages at Israeli citizens from civilian areas, schools, mosques and hospitals, thereby rendering those civilian areas, schools, mosques and hospitals legitimate military targets. The missile and mortar fire targeting Israeli civilians had to be stopped -- keep in mind that it was Hamas that did not want a cease-fire, and it was Hamas that broke each and every one of them. Hamas could have fired their missiles from open fields, but made the deliberate decision not to do so. For targeting Israeli civilians, Hamas are war criminals. That Hamas deliberately put Gaza's civilians in harm's way makes them guilty of crimes against humanity. All the satellite photographs in the world will not change the fact that the sovereign State of Israel has an affirmative duty to protect and defend its citizens, and to secure its borders against enemy tunneling. But I do have one question. When is the United Nations going to release the Syria Crisis Atlas? How about the Iraq Crisis Atlas? How about the Kurdistan Crisis Atlas? Doesn't anyone care about the physical damage wrought in any of those? They are far more devastating than Gaza and, unlike Gaza, the people in those areas did not bring the devastation upon themselves. The people of Gaza are someone else's obligation.

Israel could also produce a map of all the 3000+ targets of Hamas rockets with overlays showing numbers of attempted potential murder victims. This would be an effective countermeasure to the anti-Semitic UN.
4. Hamas is like a beggar maiming his children
Marcohoe ,   San Francisco, USA   (08.17.14)
Hamas is like a beggar maiming and blinding his children to get more money.
5. Why does UN need to spend $milllions on commission?
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (08.17.14)
This is proof that the conclusions are already written. Israel should not cooperate with them at any cost and even obstruct its work as much as possible.
6. Clearly war crimes were commited unless,
Why !   (08.17.14)
The zionists CAN find a reason for each little red point. Good Luck!
7. have the UN contract Israeli developers
zionist forever   (08.17.14)
Whoever gets the contracts to rebuild Gaza will make a lot of money so lets have some Israeli developers put forward bids.

1) There are open areas that were not used by Hamas to send rockets to Israel. It proves their intention to be attacked in urban areas to kill their own people (very civilized) 2) Where is the map with the more than 3,000 rockets that were send to Israel?
9. Israeli developers
Dennis ,   Nj USA   (08.17.14)
Well, I think that the use of an Israeli construction at Entebbe, and the results there, have somewhat precluded Israelis from getting contracts with enemies or potential enemies....the Arabs are smartening up, I presume....
10. Arabs deserve all the war crimes befelling them
Why not ?   (08.18.14)
11. They asked for it
Barney ,   USA   (08.18.14)
And boy did they get it. But they didn't get enough because they are still calling the destruction of Israel and killing Jews. The work is not finished. They love death- give it to them

The State of Israel is not answerable to pissants like you or, for that matter, the United Nations. A sovereign state has an absolute duty to protect and defend its citizens. Do you seriously mean to suggest otherwise? Gaza's civilians are not Israel's responsibility. Gaza's civilians are the responsibility of Hamas' so-called "leadership," who are kicking back in Doha in luxurious circumstances. But all the little red points represent Israel's absolute right to defend its citizens. I assure you that -- any UN kangaroo court that no one takes seriously notwithstanding -- the only war criminals are Hamas and the other terrorists that cravenly use their civilians as human shields. Too bad Hamas never used the billions of euros and billions of dollars it has received to develop Iron Dome, eh? But the fact that Gaza has no Iron Dome is not a bar to Israel defending the safety and security of its citizens. Did you think that Israel's patience is limitless? Now you know better.
