Non Jewish immigrant ,   Haifa   (08.17.14)
He'd be better PM than impotent Bibi G. Moscatelli
2. About 40% Leftists leaches parasites dodge the draft
Israeli Hypocrisy   (08.17.14)
but police are only after haredim. Why does this law not apply to leftist leaches parasites who drain the economy and dodge the draft?
3. If you're Israeli ...
David ,   New York City   (08.17.14)
If you are an Israeli between 19 and 22 years old, it is your duty as a citizen to come to the aid of your country when called. You can study when you return. Hamas cannot be stopped by reading the Torah and you cannot hide behind it either.
4. Wrong part of the world for logic.
normal1 ,   upper galil   (08.17.14)
5. 1/2 "heredi" men serve in IDF. By call of heart.
Miron ,   USA   (08.17.14)
Why does English speaking press focuses on task of making famous the other half... Are you the 5th column.
6. Obviously they don't learn anything from the Torah
Sidney ,   USA   (08.17.14)
Their behavior tells us that they have no understanding of the Torah. Memorization is not the same as learning.
7. "Even after a month of fighting"...????
Shadoil79 ,   Jerusalem   (08.17.14)
What does that have to do with the price of tea in China? YNET uses the deaths of over 60 holy people who died to protect Jewish people in the Holy Land , cheapens their sacrifice ,by trying to draw an analogy to a totally different issue which YNET is trying to diminish as a non-issue when in fact it's a huge discussion that must come to a national concensus. SHAME ON YNET for its use if wartime heroism and tragedy to propel its agenda against the study of Torah!
8. #3 No they can't study when they return
AC   (08.17.14)
because the military will secularize the religious boys forcefully like they did to the Yemenite and Sefardic children and when these yeshiva boys will return they'll look and act no better than the Jewish goyim currently serving in the military. That's why the Rabbis will not allow permit them to join this secular army in the first place. #2 said, almost 1/2 of the left dodge the draft and no one has a problem with that. Why the hypocrisy?
9. No 7 stupid comment
Non Jewish immigrant ,   Haifa   (08.17.14)
No one in Israel is "holy". The army doesn't protect the Jewish people. It protects Israelis and Israeli interests. The analogy made by Ynet is indeed very good
10. You all know how I feel about the Haredi
Al   (08.18.14)
impostors. They deserve nothing from normal Jews but complete contempt and disdain. A boycott of their businesses is in order. Cut all welfare payments to them and their bogus Yeshivas. Their Yeshivas are nothing more than registries for draft evaders. Their towns should be denied all Police and Army services and protection. They deserve nothing from the State, as the State gets nothing from them. They are no different from the Arab enemy. 'You don't serve, you don't god damn eat.' Its time the sate cut them loose.
11. Serve Baby Serve-What, No Emuna-teach the IDF how to pray
Dina   (08.18.14)
12. #8 not true!
expatokie ,   rehovot,israel   (08.18.14)
If your commitment is sincere you will follow Torah as we have for centuries in the diaspora under horrible conditions. My daughter was a Lochemet and managed to keep kosher etc while serving in the territories (protecting these draft dodgers) and the 2nd Lebanese war. What happened to the halacha of following the law of the land in which you live? If this was the US and the draft was reinstated, they would have to serve. Finally, what makes your son's life more precious than another?
13. Who is the hypocrite.
Joseph ,   Israel   (08.18.14)
I love the way you defenders of Charedim allow yourselves to make not only racist statements, but ones that are so ignorant of reality that it shows just how much you are Neanderthal. There are plenty of good orthodox boys serving in every part of the IDF. The somehow find time to train and to learn Torah as well. Oh and let's not forget they find the time to defend your sorry butts. Really the chutzpah of the Charedim is beyond the pale. Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to decide that you are the arbitrators of HaShem's word. Bottom line is, if you cannot respect the law of the land - get out!
14. Haradi traitors
Nancy   (08.18.14)
in case they havent noticed there is a war on, Have they no respect for the fine young men and women who have been protecting their holy backsides night and day, serving in Gaza and operating our defense systems? They are traitors and should be deported to Afghanistan where they belong
15. Haredi demonstrate against draft
Alex Baldor ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.18.14)
This parasitic lifestyle of the Haredim is an outrage. I would suggest a number of measures: a. the right of vote to the kneset should be denied to any Jewish person that has not served in Zahal and has been honorably discharged. b No social assistance to the families of draft dodgers,
