Fortifying passenger trains against anti-tank missiles is impossible, they would be too heavy to move. Or what, put reactive exploding tank armor on them? What complete idiocy!! You don't fortify the train cars, you fortify the rail line. RPG-type anti-tank missiles lack the range to reach the rail line from Gaza, and wire-guided anti-tank missiles are all line-of-sight weapons, operators have to SEE the target to launch to a hit. So by obscuring the line-of-sight from Gaza border with high dirt berms and 20-30 ft high chain-link opaque fences with camo net along the the 6-7 miles of rail line, from Melfasim to Erez, and the same along the Gaza border itself in this area - ground level missile operators can not get a missile lock on the train because they can't see it, vision blocked by barrier, have to guess. Technology exists now to do this and its cheap. Where do Defense Ministry get stupid ideas like this, fortifying passenger trains against anti-tank missiles? Technology doesn't even exist, take years, and cost would be astronomical to make practical. Hamas could launch anti-tank missiles at passenger trains from tall apartments in Beit Hanun I suppose - Bibi should make clear to the world that if they do, IAF will instantly bring down the apartment building with a rain of 2000 lb bombs, regardless of people inside, since international law allows immediate destruction of active firing positions in self defense, and bans use of apartments as firing positions.

Is there any other country in the world that needs bomb shelters in homes, schools and malls. Reinforced buses(against bullets), anti-missle defense for the home front and now anti tank trains. Is there any end to it? My daughter wrote to friends on face book that we had to run to our bomb shelter. Their reaction-"You have a bomb shelter in your house?"

You don't make sense. Let's talk schools. Every single school hit by the IDF was being used as a military base. That means that according to international law, Hamas is a war criminal and responsible for all collateral damage, while Israel is great. The article says the line should be protected, not the trains. That only makes sense. Where there is a line of sight directly from Gaza to the train line, a barrier should be placed and even a few layers of trees in a row would probably suffice. Why give the enemy a target?
