Is it only killing and destruction they know how to achieve? You want Israel out of the West Bank. I don't support the terror activities there but can understand why in the context of 'get them out of the west bank' But why all these targetting out of gaza? You have the land, make something out of it instead of looking to Israel to bomb, snipe, stab whatever....

"in the hope that they will hide the train" Beside the fact that this will not come cheap, are there any proof that this can be effective?

"Security by obscurity" will offer some protection to individual vehicles, as the attacker can't see his target. But a train is a large object. If one knows it's somewhere behind the trees, a small volley is likely to hit something - if not the locomotive then one of the cars. The damage and casualties might be limited if the train stays on the tracks and in motion, but if it derails the damage will be more severe. I'm all for planting trees, but a "green defense" just leaves aggression cost-free. And that's no deterrence against aggression.

No one said this is the only answer to anti-tank rockets, but why not do it, if it even prevents one rocket from hitting a train. There is no down side to it at all. First, a row of trees is a positive whether or not it will stop a missile. And since the trees look quite thick, I see no reason why they would not cause the premature explosion of a rocket several meters before the train, causing the warhead explosion to be dispersed and not penetrating the train.
