1. Bravo to President Sisi
David ,   USA   (09.10.14)
This is a truly courageous idea-- one that shows an appreciation for the human dimensions of the conflict on all sides, an understanding of Israel's constraints that surpasses any thus far shown by any US president at any point in history, and the first real risk taken by any leader of an Arab country for the sake of peace. It would be a travesty of grave proportions if we did not in the very least show President Sisi the praise and admiration that he has thus rightly earned. We must always be cautious of course, but it would appear that Israel finally has an ally in the Arab world.
2. Saudi are backing and financing
Avi L.   (09.10.14)
My impression is that, after spending trilions of dollars spreading their religion (of peace?) the Saudis are scared beyond any fathomable depth of the monster they have born, ISIS. My impression is they are trying to defuse what has been since 1948 the fixation of islamo-arab public attention: "the palestinian cause". The old Faisal had pictures of the Khaba hanged on the wall, since 1967 it is Omar's mosque. In giving a solution to the "the palestinian cause" they can say that they is less/no need for jihad. I hope with all my heart that it will work, but i believe it will fail. All of a sudden all the higher tier of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezballah and others would loose their reason to exist, would loose their position, power, money, weapons. The rest would not accept to change their perception of the world, the promise of whatever paradise and world domination they have been taught in the last 50 years, they don't want to feel "frayerim". In the end only Egypt could have proposed to give a piece of Sinai, its own land, we couldn't have done it.
3. A Far-fetched Plan
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (09.10.14)
The tiny state of Liberia was created by America in Africa as an alternative homeland for the black slaves who opted for their freedom . Liberia's capital city , Monrovia , was named after the US president James Monroe , and Liberia's national flag much resembles the US flag . And yet most blacks of the USA kept stubbornly identifying with America as their homeland . Just think of Barack Obama... A couple of years ago the popularly-elected president of Egypt , Morsi , was ousted - without any legitimacy - for several bogus reasons one of which was the alleged Morsi's secret plan to give a chunk of Egypt's Sinai peninsula to the Palestinians as an alternative but permanent state in place of the coveted pre-1967 West Bank and Gaza territories . But to my surprise and disgust what I see now is that it is the current president of Egypt ," Field Marshal " Sissy ( who took power at the point of a gun and without the least legitimacy ) is the very champion of this ill-fated plan . Well , to put it succinctly , historically the Palestinian people belong to the stretch of land from River Jordan to the Mediterranean Sea ( part of what was Greater Syria ) . Consequently I am already certain one hundred per cent this plan could never ever be implemented . I firmly rightfully believe the Arabs in general and the Palestinians in particular have over the years made much more than enough concessions to Israel . And in my opinion it is Israel's turn now to reciprocate and make some sacrifices for the sake of a long-term - if not everlasting - peace with the Arabs , especially the Palestinians . I see no reason why the Jews of Israel should worry about co-existing with the Palestinians in one bi-national state . The majority of the Arabs do not hate Jews and in fact already accept Israel's existence - though not yet officially . The recent transition of South Africa from an apartheid state to a modern state enjoying democracy , freedom , and justice should serve as an example...
4. This is a great idea- but needs one change....
David ,   Hartford USA   (09.10.14)
the land should be for Israel. 160 square kilometers can support over a million people with proper infrastructure and agriculture. Just think of the new seaside cities, solar energy farms, new desalinization plants. Agriculture in the 21st century! Let all the Jews in the west bank have new homes in 'new' Israel. Let the 'Palestinians' have the west bank- and let's watch them fail. They can't tie their shoes without Israeli help. This will also surround Gaza with Israel- so they will have to behave or they will be pushed into the sea. Israel could make this 160 sq km an example to the entire Mideast of what can be done when money is spent on people instead of weapons. Let the previous Israeli residents of Gaza and the Israelis of the west bank create a new shining city and leave the old moldering west bank to the Arabs. They'll soon find out that having their greatest dream come true is not the same as wanting that dream to come true- they will fail as they always have. The Israeli success will spill over into Egypt as Egyptians come to find work. Al-Sisi could become the greatest leader of Egypt since the Pharaohs- by having Egypt create a new 'twin' city that matches Israel's. Are there grand thinkers with real vision? Time will tell. If Abbas doesn't want the land, Bibi should try for it. Build a new city, jointly developed by Egypt and Israel called 'Peace.' They should 'just do it' and show what real leaders can do when they put their minds to work. Nobel Prizes for both of them. Time to think out of the box.
5. Zionism In Sinai for Palestinians!
(09.10.14)
Great idea. Even Israel may join, and buy some land in Sinai. Win-Win proposal. Al Sissi is great.
6. sadly its not for israel to endorse
zionist forever   (09.10.14)
Is a great idea The arabs get a chunk of Sinai and no doubt Israel would have to give them not all but most of Judea & Samaria as well because they would never go with a deal where their whole stater consists of desert not to mention of course non of them currently liven in Siani. Sadly Abbas has rejected it and no doubt will the Arab League. What is needed is for Bibi to hold secret talks with Obama ASAP and secretly between draft a practical proposal thats based on the Egyptian idea but also most of Judea & Samaria as well as Sinai make it practical and more saleable and tell Obama if he can sell this to Abbas & the AL he is willing to be on the next flight to Washington to sign the prospect of an overnight deal will be music to Obamas ears.

zionist forever   (09.10.14)
The trouble with a bi-nataionalism is it cannot be a Jewish state it would have to be a religion neutral state for all not and preferential treatment given to Jews like alliyah must end. The demographics to begin with would be near 50-50 but give it about 20 years because arabs have more kids than secular Jews the arabs would soon outnumber the Jew.. No alliyah also means no more safe haven for Jews and with all the anti sematism n Europe right now and groups like ISIS on the rise a strong Jewish sate has probably not been needed as more than at anytime since WW2
8. Humanitarian Islam and Arab Polity Welcome
Zechariah   (09.10.14)
The Jews ought welcome Humanitarian Islam and a Humanitarian Palestinian State .The Jews seared by the Holocaust will Take Care of Security for the next Decades .
9. A leader like Pres Sisi comes once in a 1000 years
Alan ,   SA   (09.10.14)
10. And Obama prefers the Muslim Brothers-Go work that one out!
Alan ,   SA   (09.10.14)
11. Basic issue
Raphael ,   Netanya   (09.10.14)
The very nature of the palestinian problem is to exist and remain. It is not to find a solution. The palestinian "elites" would lose their fat status, the "refugees" would lose the UNRWA bonanza, the whole arab world would lose an excuse for not endeavouring democracy, progress, expansion.
12. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.10.14)
Nonsense! One does not reward a violent, terrorist entity with a state. The ersatz "palestinians" gave it their best shot, and lost. Time to kick 'em to the curb -- I care not where. Perhaps Obama can gift them the state of Michigan. There's nothing much there anymore, anyway.
13. Gaza and Sinai
Joel Magid ,   Scarsdale, NY USA   (09.10.14)
Better than establishing an extended Gaza state in Sinai would be the creation of a jointly monitored UN/Egyptian zone in Sinai 10 miles or so south of the border with Gaza. This zone would be dedicated to the rebuilding of Gaza and to the development of the northern Sinai. The international zone would include a seaport, a small airport with connecting fligts to Cairo's international airport, solar farms for producing electricity, desalination plants, factories producing multi-dwelling pre-fabricated housing that could be then transferred to Gaza, and a regional hospital/clinic. This zone would create thousands of jobs for Egyptians and Gazans, would provde physical and electronic surveillance that would help guaranttee that the zone was used for civilian purposes and would this meet Israel's security needs, and would minimize possibilities of corruption. Individiual countries would sponsor projects in the zone, thereby increasing the efficiency and speed of development. China and the US, for instance, would each build an enormous solar farm producing electriicty to be allocated 65% to Gaza, 25% to Sinai and 10% to Israeli comminities bordering Gaza. The competition in building the solar farms would mean quicker construction, while providing a show-case for responsible development. The energy produced from these donated solar plants would be inexpensive and environmentally sound. A UN development commission for Gaza would include use concrete from destroyed buildings for creating an extension of the Gaza sea-line for prefabricated housing development. The UN authority would also be responsible for water, power and sewage infrastructure in Gaza, using labor from Gaza while preventing resources being siphoned off by corruption or for other purposes. Neither Palestinian nor Israeli leadership, who seem incapable of breaking the negotiating log-jam, would have to approve these initiatives in advance, although both would see their demands being met by the international zone and the UN development commission Joel Magid.
14. A "Palestinian" state belongs in horrid fairy tales.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.11.14)
First of all, Gaza rightfully belongs to Israel. Israel's lunatic retreat from Gaza caused all the Gaza wars, terror and rockets. It was also a huge mistake for Israel to flee Sinai. A "Palestinian" state belongs only in horrid fairy tales. The true solution is to transfer "Palestinians" out of our land forever.
15. Stop spewing nonsense:only total eradication of Islam is
(09.11.14)
going to secure any chance for peace for...anybody on this planet! How are we going to achieve it?- After we decide to do so, the answers will come pouring in.....
16. #3 Israel has made more than enough concessions
A ,   Belgium   (09.11.14)
to the "palestinian" squatters, while the "palestinians" have given nothing but terror and death to Israel. Take your problems to the little king across the river where you belong.
