He was born in the Ukraine. AND was recruited to the army in 1940. All it says is that he was born in the Ukraine. Then it says that he was recruited into the red army in 1940. It doesn't say at what age he was recruited.

they murdered, raped and looted, but they were afraid to be found out. to this day, the germans keep many archives secret and unavailable to the public. what we know about the shoa is nothing compared to what is still hidden.

Born in Ukraine, recruited by the Russian army in 1940. It also says that he was 21 at the time of the uprising in Minsk therefore, he had to be born some time after the end of the first World war, a bit over two decades before joining the Russians army in 1940. Anyways, what's the difference the last survivor or not? he was there during that G-d awful period and that's that! Chag sameach leh koulam.
