1. US criticizes Turkey's inaction as IS attacks strategic bord
jeremy ,   hula valley kibbutz   (10.09.14)
Maybe it's time to see that Erdegon really supports anybody that is willing to kill Kurds. Maybe the US needs to review their ties with Turkey because they are sure not helping in the region but are causing more harm. Maybe, it's time to see that the only true ally in this region is Israel
2. TURKEY AND IS FOLLOW THE SAME GOAL.

It's not the United States' problem. Turkey, on the other hand, shares a border with those sadistic freaks. Why can't you police your own borders and set up your own buffer zone -- inside Turkey? We know that Turkey does not have a highly-regarded military -- perhaps we should just kick you out of NATO and let you fend for yourselves? Of course, all those NATO bases will leave Turkish soil, too, sending the already tottering Turkish economy completely over the edge. What the United States and its allies should do is ram a sovereign Kurdistan down your throats -- Iraq and Syria are in no position to protest; Turkey should not be allowed to encourage the massacre of innocent Kurdish civilians. We know that Turkey refused to fight in Kosovo, in Iraq and in Afghanistan -- some professed delicacy about fighting against fellow Moslems. I guess Erdogan forgot that Kurds are Moslems, too. Turkey's a laughingstock anyway, with an inept military. ISIS is at your doorstep, and you still cannot figure out what to do. Which is not surprising, and fits neatly with your seriously defective military.
4. The turks committed genocide on the armenians..
Beary White ,   Norway   (10.09.14)
.. so, this behaviour as the kurds are slaughtered, is a kind of the same Islamic-cult-friendship. I am not surprised..
5. Turkey should help destroy YPG and Kobani
Orhan Kraloglu   (10.09.14)
Or these Kurds will try to attack Turkish soil. We must help ISIS, they are our brothers. Destroying these Kurd terrorists is in our national interests also in interests of ISIS and Arabs in general.
6. Shame on Turkey! Long live a Free Kordestan!

7. The bombs dropped
Observed   (10.09.14)
The bombs dropped by the alliance were so big it looked like they whipped off all of Kobane off the map (with all the Kurds and all Isis in it).
8. Real easy to convince Turkey to play
Ben ,   Harrisburg USA   (10.09.14)
The quickest way to convince Turkey to play ball would be to let them know that since the Coalition can't count on them for support, an immidiate recognition of the new Country and State of Kurdistan will be taking place so that the appropriate state sanctioned support can take place. Of course Israel should be the first to recognize the new country. Turkey will do anything to avoid that! Sadly the current POTUS and his state department do not know how to play this game nor have any understanding of the regional plotics. Or at least it sure seems that way.
9. 5 "We must help ISIS, they're our brothers"
Dave ,   SF-usa   (10.09.14)
Thanks for confirming it, Orhan. At least you're honest about it .

people.

What's the matter? Is "big, bad, powerful" Turkey incapable of protecting its own soil? Help ISIS at your peril, sluggo. Is that what you want? A country of uneducated women in burqas and modern Turks beheaded in town squares? The U.S. won't rescue you. We'll just establish a safe haven -- probably going to call it Kurdistan -- where the Kurdish people can live in safety. Turkey's always been the "sick man of Europe." Now, it will become the "terminally ill man of Europe." Good riddance to foul rubbish.

Turkey has an opportunity in this humanitarian disaster that is going on n Iraq and Syria. The Kurds in that area are in big danger from ISIS terror. They have many close relatives in South East Turkey. This AKP government has been trying to make an ACILIM for peace ans reconciliation with Kurds but so far not going well. Kurds need some protector either in the region or somewhere in the world to defend against these ISIS monsters If Turkey takes this opportunity to help Kurds as well as all other minorities in the target of ISIS that include the Turkmens it is more likely that Kurds like Ibrahim Demirtas and other moderates can make real peace with Turkey. because if they see Turkey as a protector it would be to their interest to see a strong Turkish ally rather than a divided Turkey and no protection. having said that I am not saying Turkey should go into this alone. They must ask the other allies also to send ground forces together with Turks. After all this is not a simple Kurdish Turkish Sunni Shia Christian Yezidi issue This is a humanitarian tragedy that is happening under the hands of throat cutting barbarians.
14. what are you talking about?
harun ,   turkey   (10.10.14)
English are the ones WHO made this region unstable a century ago and the westerners are the ones behind the most of the terrorist organizations including ISIS in the World. Why didn't you say anything while hundreds of thousand of people were butchered in recent years by assad and others? Why are you trying to push Turkey into a war alone that it did not start? Why the World did not send any aid to syrian refugees while spending billions of dollars on war and weapons? Turkey tried to help everyone but the powerful countries did not do anything and these problems arose because of their actions. And yet you try to accuse Turkey on false assupmtions, this is only pathetic.

You are the only one who understood the article but the thing is that you have misunderstood it. It has nothing to do with Turkey's military ineptness or capacity. Everybody admits that Turkey is the second largest military of the Nato Alliance. The article says -which really is the case - Turkey's inaction is deliberate and as a part of its strategic choice in the face of the changing dynamics of the region. Turkey simply does not desire to see Syrian and Iraqi Kurds getting empowered in the neighborhood across its borders. As simple as this.
