1. recognition of palestine would make abbas more obstinant
Scott ,   Ramat Gan   (10.13.14)
Recognizing palestinie by EU powers would be a death blow to hopes for a peace settlement. It would wrongly reward Abbas for allying himself with terrorists & incitement. It would also make Abbas even more bullheaded by telling him there is no need to negotiate. It will also not change the facts of the ground.
2. Who cares?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.13.14)
Israel should hold a REAL -- as opposed to "symbolic" -- vote on the annexation of Judea and Samaria. I know what the outcome will be. Let's see how wide terrorist Abbas smiles then.
3. ISIS will soon attack London. Inshallah.
Achmed   (10.13.14)
4. UK hypocrites: there is no such thing as a "symbolic vote"
CJK   (10.13.14)
miliband's push for a vote on recognizing a so-called palestinian state, if passed, would have concrete repercussions.
5. one wonders about this sudden move by miliband
CJK   (10.13.14)
the uk labour party and the american democratic party are close. obama is desperate to give the arab palestinians a state of any sort under any conditions. should the issue reach the unsc, it is probable that obama will abstain or vote yes. will congress be able to stop him is the question.
6. Vote "No" to sovereign state
Christian Sion ,   Tzion the eutopia   (10.13.14)
A sovereign Palestinian state will not work. The talk of occupation is just that, talk. Issues that need to be remedied don't constitute a Palestinian sovereign state. The same kinds of reasons used for "occupation" can just as well be used for other circumstances in other countries and it is not occupation. Even if it's symbolic, the truth be said, a sovereign Palestinian state is not the answer. The answer would be two states in one country. Everyone needs to be involved. European countries made the European Union and Scotland just voted to stay under Great Britain. It's conceivable that unions can be made for the best interest of the people under the best system. This is what we need to work on.
7. Palestinian statehood vote
mark ,   uk   (10.13.14)
Vote for the biggest bluff one reason to be on the band wagon like others another reason election next year and they are after the votes and what do Palestinians offer
8. UK leader votes "Present" on sensitive issue
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (10.13.14)
To abstain means either he doesn't understand the issue enough to make a decision (which suggests Cameron is unfit to be Prime Minister) or he's too gutless to take a public stand because it will anger one side or the other, which means he he's just another worthless politician.
9. england ! OLDEST VAMPIRE
atilla karagözoğlu   (10.13.14)
10. Israel
Stafford Fernando ,   UK   (10.13.14)
Israel is the only civilised democratic country in the ME. Do the world need another terrorist state in ME next door to Israel.? Jewish people deserve a secure homeland. British Labour Party is disgraceful. I have been a member of the UK Labour Party as long as I remember, but this issue make me reluctantly disassociate myself with the Labour Party. At the next General Election, my vote goes to any party that support Israel.
11. Israel has too many enemies
Zechariah   (10.13.14)
Israel has too many enemies and need security control in Judae and Samariah .economic Wellbeing and some autonomy is ok .Englands opposition fitting into role .Jews will resist betrayals of the Genocide Paper1939.
12. Keep whistling in the dark
jon ,   USA   (10.13.14)
You can dream as much as you want, but the situation for Israel is not sustainable. With no peace, Israel will be the loser at the end. It is not what I want, but if Netanyahu will keep prefering settlement over Israel's security, the world will give up on Israel, and the US will not far behind.
13. Should Knesset debate recognising IS?
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (10.13.14)
Surely a vote in the Knesset to recognise IS as a State would be a contribution to peace in the Middle East. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
14. #10
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (10.13.14)
That would be the BNP then

Can you name one instance in history where the defender in a war of aggression was forced to give up nonsovereign territory acquired in the course of fighting said defensive war? Just one. Israel's not the international community's crash test dummy. If the nations want to do a test case, how about we start with requiring Poland to restore East Prussia and the Polish Corridor to Germany? We could also require the United States to cede back to Germany Ramstein Air Force Base (which is sovereign United States soil). Alternatively, we could demand that Croatia restore the province of Istria to Italy and that France return Alsace and Lorraine to Germany. While we're at it, we could force the United States to return to Japan the 90% of the island of Okinawa which is taken up by Fort Buckner and which is deemed sovereign United States soil. Not prepare to do that? Fine. Then don't make Israel give up nonsovereign land acquired in the course of fighting not one, but SIX defensive wars. There are rules that govern armed conflict. Unless you want to see complete and total anarchy, it's best to leave these rules in place. To the victor belongs the spoils of war. The ersatz "palestinians" have to live with the consequences of their poor decision-making just the way every aggressor nation that is defeated has had to do -- it may be a bitter pill to swallow, but civilization has figured out a long time ago that one does not reward a violent, hostile and terrorist rabble. No reason to change our thinking now.
16. England vote in Parliament
Sheldon Botoshansky ,   New York, New York,   (10.13.14)
In 1948-49 when JORDAN annexed territory in the Israeli war of independence only Britain recognized the annexation. The International Community did not follow suit as they say in card playing. Having made the move to acknowledge a foreign government's annexation of land against the Geneva Conventions, England is dismissed forever! Who cares what England says?
17. Ed Miliband
CJK   (10.13.14)
ed miliband is just another marxist who sides with islamic terrorists.
18. 8
C   (10.13.14)
