With all the brains and talent we have in this country that can create the Iron Dome amongst other genius inventions, how is it that there's a little bit of rain and ALL the major junctions' traffic lights are out of order? It happens every single year....unbelievable. What are the Ministry of Roads doing with all their money?
3. And when ....

.... Israel's orchards and groves and fields bring a bountiful harvest, we will remember these days with fondness. Think of all the places where the rain does not fall sufficiently, and be grateful for the rain we get in abundance. The electricity will be restored; the cars damaged by falling trees are covered by insurance, and the trees that fell will be replaced by other trees. Just drive carefully, folks!

First of all, there is absolutely no reason to teach Israeli children an uniquely American song. Secondly, when you start paying a fortune for tomatoes, asparagus, lettuce and everything else that grows in drought-stricken California, you will appreciate the rain. There is a reason that Israel is a garden in the midst of a vast, unforgiving desert. We care about the land. We nurture it, and cosset it. That is why it yields so much bounty. Israel does not get more rain than Jordan or Iraq. Yet those are wastelands. Israelis bless the rain. Even when we get a lot of it. It is far better to have too much than not enough. And it is best to do something with it -- and Israel does. Our neighbors do not. Therein the difference, honey. That's why they covet Israel. Of course, left to their devices, Israel would be just another piece of desert. It's what you do with what you have; not the fact that you have that makes all the difference.
