1. Oz is right 100%
(11.02.14)
Since the existence of humanity, the only universally condemned capital crime in all cultures without exception is being a traitor. Oz is right, sometimes being called a traitor is a badge of honor, but only when you are falsely accused. What Oz should be discussing is whether arming a mortal enemy is being a traitor or not. On this note, remember that Oz is one of the people who supported betraying the SLA (an act that led to Hezbolla's ascendancy) and supported the surrender of the Golan to "Nerve Gas" Assad.

4. Oz is the elite of the elite
CJK   (11.02.14)
it is interesting to note that many among the elite grew up in kibbutzim. of course, kibbutzim did not allow arabs to join and still do not. oz and others also conveniently forget that arabs were under marshall law for a number of years after the declaration of independence, all under the labour party. oz's son in law, professor of law eli salzberger explained in an article that israel's courts and especially its high court was packed with german jewish judges since they were "liberal" and "honest," as opposed to their eastern european counterparts who were considered dishonest. to this day, the high court is used as a counterweight to the knesset. the judges are selected by a committee comprised of members of the court, members of the bar association and two members of the knesset. professor sulzberger admits that this system ensures the ideological continuity and purity of the high court regardless of the composition of the knesset. he admits that this system fails to address the issue of separation of powers. the article i read fails to address the crucial issue of jurisdiction, especially in matters pertaining to foreign policy and national security. what is certain is that the high court can override the elected knesset on all matters. amos oz touches on christian jew hatred but tries to minimize it. he is wrong to do so since christian jew hatred of the past two thousand years has led to all jew hatreds in the world. oz forgets that islam borrowed from christians. the only countries where jew hatred is mostly unknown are those that are not christian. whether judas existed or not, whether he was a "traitor" or not, is irrelevant to the charge of deicide against the jews. of course, it is theologically and logically contradictory to accuse the jews of killing the son of god who is eternal, especially given the concomitant belief in the resurrection.
