Because if Israel remains dependent on the US for spare parts for it's fighters, it's an extremely dangerous vulnerability. The US can withhold spare parts if Israel doesn't play along with it's policy. It's good that the embargo during Protective Edge woke Israel up, and it's now going to make more of its own weapons even at the expense of US aid, but it's absolutely vital it manufacture it's own F-35 spare parts.

As defense minister Barak spent money on an under invested IDF. He negotiated the F35 deal. The Pentagon were against even selling Israel the F35 but Barak negotiated a deal which involved Israel being able to install its own systems and modify a second squadron of F35, the price and this factory. No other F35 customer even the ones who invested billions in its development got deals like this. Great negotiating but Israel has never been good at PR so its alway in trouble.

To name one, Iron Dome technology is an Israeli invention. To name two, the obvious Jewish A bomb inventiveness of WW11 that won the war when the US dropped two bombs over Hiroshima and, Nagasaki... Not to mention that Israel removed two nuclear Arab facilities Iraq and Syria....... sans help from the US or any one. Who of the multiple Arab states builds either product or parts for such weaponry? It would seem to me that the business of war is business and the US contracts with Israel to use 80% of the US funds to purchase US weapons and employees thousands of US defense workers is the same contract that is now in jeopardy due to obama's ornery callousness to our best ally, Israel which puts these same jobs in jeopardy.
