This talk of Jewish roots is condascending nonsense. Amy was Jewish. She was as Jewish as I am, as Jewish as Benjamin Netanyahu is or Shimon Peres or any other Jew. She lived her life as a Jew and tragically died. I had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a Jewish person who was a great artist and died very young du to her chronic illness - Alcoholism.

You are mistaken. I knew her. Amy was as Jewish as any Jew is. Her music was her career and her vocation. All Jews don't have to have Jewish professions and all their friends don't have to be Jewish. Judaism is a religion and Jews are a tribe. Many Jews have professions and friends and colleagues that are not related to their Jewishness. One's Jewishness is a personal thing. BTW Amy was always proud of her Jewishness and in spite of her illness and troubles she was in fact a very good person.

You're dead wrong Alan. Jews have traditionally always worked in the entertainment world especially the music business. And especially with black musicians. Ray Charles - the great originator of Soul music was best friends with Ben Gurion and toured and supported Israel. Interestingly the older generation of Jews that grew up in more racist eras (maybe this is you) were forced to hide their Jewishness and grovel to white society's racism. Sadly that seems to be you.
5. #1:Damn, I knew she should've done"Yiddishe Mamme"!
