1. Cliché-ridden text by Rivlin, but with importants points:
Scharp ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.10.14)
Leaders have to set personal examples and stop fanning the flames. There will alwars be ups and downs with violence and counterviolence. The only way to reduce violence and increase a peaceful behaviour is to bring peace to the region incl. East Jerusalem and the territories - and jobs, better economy, hope, visions for all of a better life.
2. May the President's words be heard. Amen.

4. Good Start
Christy ,   Boston, US   (11.10.14)
Good start would be an example, from Israeli Leaders, that *all* Israelis are equal before the law. For example - any Israeli caught attacking anyone in the IDF should do serious jail time - no matter which neighborhood the attacker lives in. Less serious jail time for spitting on, etc.. Another example would be any Israeli who feels free to riot & destroys property should make restitution for cost of items destroyed. No money? No problem - labor is accepted. Move away from having some Israelis think they're above the law 'ordinary' Israelis obey. I'm thinking about certain Jews here who believe they're above obeying the laws other Jews must obey. Start there.
5. Thank You , President of Israel
Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (11.10.14)
Mr. President In principle , and basically , by compromise and mutual reconciliation the crux of the Israeli Palestinian conflict could be solved . There were times when it was thought peace between Egypt and Israel could never be achieved because Egypt viewed Israel as a Zionist country of occupation and expansion while Israel at the same time viewed Egypt as a life-threatening danger . However , once Egypt took the bold step by accepting Israel's existence and formally recognizing its legitimacy while also renouncing all hostile acts Israel abandoned its long-time " irrevocable boundaries " and finally accepted to give Sinai back to Egypt . The Palestinians , according to the 1993 Oslo Agreements have finally accepted Israel's existence and have recognized Israel's legitimacy too . Well , the whole world has already recognized the legitimate demands of the Palestinian people provided Israel's security is not compromised . So , what should stop the Israeli leadership from accepting the already-established facts ? What stops the State of Israel from recognizing Palestinian legitimate rights to statehood and independence ? vWhat makes it impossible for Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side ? As far as I know all Arab countries are accepting Israel's existence , at least implicitly if not formally and officially . And so are the Palestinians who generally do not harbor hatred toward Jews as a people . One of the big obstacles right now is the continued Israeli occupation of Palestinian land . Instead of tackling the crux of the problem the current Israeli leadership seems quite satisfied to give the Palestinians limited autonomy and phony independence . No wonder violence is still going on . Basically , finding a halfway solution to the issues of Palestinian statehood , the Palestinian refugees in UNRWA camps , and the final status of Jerusalem should , most certainly , bring about an eternal peace between all Arabs and Israel . Jerusalem city in particular should have some kind of a final political and social status that should satisfy both Arabs and Jews . In theory all this seems feasible . It only takes the courage of some exceptional leadership to have the guts to take bold steps to terminate the state of war between us and live eternally in peace and prosperity... 6. responsibility
(11.11.14)
The last few days have brought three dead Arabs. If they had not attacked someone with a knife, they would all be alive. Rivlin is telling the Arabs, take responsibility, don't attack people with knives. The last few days have brought two dead and five wounded Jews. If they had stayed at home and not appeared in public, they would be well. What is Rivlin saying? Jews, stay locked up in your house?

Attah Hamud   (11.11.14)
Israel, they immediately become beauty queen pageant contestants wanting to bring world peace.... One can almost see the white dove sitting on his shoulder. That being said, that is his job, and not inciting violence.

Abdel Karim Salim ,   Jerusalem   (11.11.14)
I believe in peaceful co-existence . I believe in love and peace and freedom.... But here is my homeland and my parents' home is still in Majdal city ( Migdal ) just to the east of Ashkelon ( 'Askalan ) . It is occupied by two Israeli families.... PS : History books say the Hebrews ( ancient Jews ) originally came from Mesopotamia ( the land between the two rivers - Iraq now ) . So , let Jews go back to Babylonia... Fair game , ok ?

solomon ,   bklyn   (11.11.14)
I feel sorry that you lost your parents home. But this has occurred to millions, if not billions of people throughout millenia. My parents also lost their homes, etc., and learned to move on and not get stuck. History books say the arabs came from Arabia and took over Judea from the Jews. This was much more recent history than the Jews arrival in the area. So let the arabs go back to Arabia...Fair game, ok?
