1. Europe cares?
AY ,   USA   (11.14.14)
If Europe cared about the security of their own Jewish communities, there wouldn't be attacks on them, as well as the smaller antisemitic harassment and intimidation.
2. The Europeans
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.14.14)
They just cannot rid themselves of their hatred of Jews. There are barely any Jews left in Europe -- those "enlightened" European Christians are responsible -- and still, their anti-Semitism shines through. Fortunately, however, certainly for the Jewish people and for the rest of the world, Europe is a dying continent. They are being consumed from within. Good riddance to pure rubbish. Oh -- almost forgot. The Europeans can recognize that the world is flat, for all the difference it makes to the State of Israel. And if they don't behave, they can forget about cheap natural gas easily and readily available from Israel's two huge natural gas fields. The Europeans can continue to enjoy paying sky-high prices for low-quality Russian natural gas which is a logistical and expensive nightmare to acquire. Fiscally bankrupt; morally bankrupt. Europe hasn't changed.
3. LOL Doesn't matter if ALL nations recognize palestine
BUILD BABY BUILD !!!   (11.14.14)
there is NO palestine and, there is no Atlantis. There IS Israel and she has the land, the power, and the legal rights to do as she sees fit. Those who recognize the pals are legally bound to allow them to live amongst them as 'illegal aliens' or infiltrators, that is, if they don't mind a few public beheadings and murdering their women in an 'honorable fashion.' No surprise Europe exterminated 6 million Jews and now, try it again. Enjoy your terrorists they will show their strength as their antisemitic hosts lose their nations and their lives. Perfect. BUILDING MORE AND MORE AND MORE BABY!!!!
4. more European countries recognize Palestine'
nigel ,   uk   (11.14.14)
why are European countries are so in love with the Palestinians is it because they are promised something from rich Arab countries or they are using the Palestinians against Israel what good do they see with the Palestinians a lot of them are violent and there will be trouble look at the other Arab countries which the west helped people look what Europeans got now in their countries and all the money and effort spend on securities
5. Imagine: forTHAT we gave up on our ancestoral places like
(11.14.14)
Hebron, parts of Judea& Samaria, Gaza, Temple Mount...so on. Nothing will quench Europe's thirst for antisemitism. Only now it is becoming crystal-clear, as they revert to their "old ways" and do it without any shame!
6. The European Narrative on Palestine
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (11.14.14)
Dumb and Dumber So they 'recognise' Palestine So perhaps they could let US know WHAT or WHERE is this Palestine? Is in the Palestine in the West Bank, Palestine in Gaza, Palestine in West Bank and Gaza...when there is not a hope for unity or is it the much talked about new idea of Palestine in greater Gaza? Because sure as eggs are eggs...the Euros don't know, WE don't know and the best joke of all? Abbas doesn't know!
7. "Netanyahu is not interested in peace"!
tiki ,   belgium   (11.14.14)
But, as we can witness every day, listen to the their media, hear their loving speeches...., the "Palestinians" are. Who is he bluffing? He doesn't even dare to say openly; "We Europeans hate Jews! Always have, always will and therefore we will support anyone who's fighting you and doing our dirty work to get you of the planet"! "True, after WW2 we can't say & do what we want because we have our image of a 'sophisticated continent to defend, but 'Inch Allah for the Palestinians, they will take care of you with our democratic blessing" There, that wasn't to hard, was it?
8. Even Israel recognizes Balestinians
Dave   (11.14.14)
in Jordan and even in France.
9. "Creating a conversation in Israeli society"
tiki ,   belgium   (11.14.14)
Is this man for real? EU creating a conversation in Israeli society just shows how little these EU 'here today/gone tomorrow experts' understand about Israeli society. The only thing Israeli society isn't lacking is to much conversation!
10. Hugh Lovat and the elephant in the EU:
Scharp ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.14.14)
Hamas and Islamic Jihad are terrorist organisations. Lovatt should inform us what kind of advice he gives to the palestinian islamists. And how to adress this issue. Avoiding the fact that far too many palestinians still dream of Israel as a failed state, will eventually force Lovatt and the europeans to wake up. Constructive dialogue with Israel, even criticism - fine. The absence of sensbible analysis regarding the intra-palestinian problem - a disgrace.
11. Europe supports the lie called "palestine".
A ,   Belgium   (11.14.14)
First lie, Arabs have always been the majority in "palestine"/Israel: "The Arab immigration to "Palestine" was much greater than Jewish immigration". Franklin Delano Rooseveldt "the Arabs have crowded into the country and multiplied till their population has increased more than even all world Jewry could lift up the Jewish population". Winston Churchill, 1939. "Palestinians" are descendants of arab migrant workers and are NOT indigenous to the area as they claim to be. Next lie, "Palestinians" are a people: Arch terrorist Yasser Arafat was born in Egypt, served in the Egyptian army and studied in Cairo University. He was not a "palestinian. Salma Fayumi, finalist in the Israeli "Master Chef" TV program: "This dish is an Egyptian dish. My family is originally from Egypt, from Al Faiyum, and my name is Salma Fayumi, from Al Faiyum". She is not a "palestinian". Even Hamas makes it clear who the "palestinians" really are: Fathi Hammad, Hamas Minister of the Interior and National Security, Egyptian tv 2012; "Personally, half my family is Egyptian. We are all like that. More than 30 families in the Gaza strip are called Al-Masri ("Egyptian"). Brothers, half of the "palestinians" are Egyptians and the other half are Saudis". He is not a "palestinian". Europe supports a lie perpetrated upon the whole world...there is no "palestine" and never was, there is no "palestinian" people and never was.

Middle East calming down. Im sure his comments will be more widely reported soon He said now is not the most suitable time for peace agreements with entire M E on fire! So is he wfrong or right?
14. Kissinger says-
Alan ,   SA   (11.14.14)
Kissinger: Israel Should Not Seek Final Peace Deal with Palestinians until Mideast Chaos Subsides - Former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger told a New York audience on Tuesday that considering the widespread upheaval in the Middle East, it is a mistake for Israel to pursue a comprehensive peace deal with the Palestinians. After describing the regional turmoil, Kissinger advised against seeking a "permanent settlement" until "the fundamental issues that I described here move to some resolution....The overall solutions will have to be discussed within the context of a solution of the various upheavals and the settling down of these upheavals." "The survival of Israel and the maintenance of its capacity to build the future is one of those principles that we will pursue even if we have to do so alone," he added. "Israel is, has been, a representative of the principles in which America believes. It is the one country on whose geopolitical support America can always count."
15. Europe, antisemitism and the Palestinians
Bertram ,   London, UK.   (11.14.14)
There is very little point in debating with hardline nationalists and religious extremists - whether Jewish, Arab, Islamic, etc. Whatever truth there might be is buried beneath a welter of propagandist 'history' with many ultimately prepared for 'martyrdom' if necessary. As far as ultra right-wing Zionists are concerned Europe will always be 'antisemitic' and the Palestinians will always be fictitious - and anyone having the temerity to question these 'truths' will be considered as traitors. The only hope is that people of goodwill and decency on all sides will eventually make their voices heard above the clamouring for the purity of conflict and violence in the pursuit of 'justice'.
16. Lies - the eussr just wants a judenfree middle east
Daniel ,   TA - IL   (11.14.14)
the average european is sick and tired of arabs/muslims and their if one reads talkbacks in the eussr people are tired of thei governments selling them out to islam. yet the eussr is an ideology crooked up by the nazis through their supreme lawyer halstein... et voila, they are now supporting their ally\ies, the muslism - they were already allies with the racist mufti of jerusalem. THE EUSSR is clear in their support for orginisations calling for a jewfree middle east
17. To All Commentators
Harold ,   USA   (11.14.14)
The United Nations will vote for the creation of The State of Palestine and the US will abstain.
18. "The only hope is ... "
Michael ,   California, USA   (11.14.14)
Enough of this self flagellation by Europe, by the US and the rest of the world. Time to take action and separate Israelis and Palestinians. They will not separate themselves under peace and security conditions for all, so the world needs to come in and separate them by force. Keep Israelis and Palestinians separated for 50 years and let new generations of leaders come up on both sides. After waiting 50 years the new leaders will themselves create a "Middle East Common Market" and make the region a paradise. The common people NOW living in the Middle East are ready to see some real action from Europe, not just endless interviews with politicians.

Europe is very rich, a lot of natural resources and hightech

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.14.14)
Really? Then why are three-quarters of the countries in the EU in bankruptcy or on the skids? And how long do you think Germany is going to continue bailing out weak members of the EU before they decide they have had enough? Germany deciding that it has had enough is a dangerous thing; history has taught that much. Oh -- lest you forget -- natural gas is going to be in this century what petroleum was in the 20th century. Europe doesn't have any. Israel has lots and lots and lots. As to high tech -- don't lose sight of the fact that Israel is the dominant presence in the world of information technology. The Europeans just aren't what they used to be -- but that's okay. They've screwed up the planet long enough, don't you think?

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.14.14)
How conveniently you overlook the fact that there are a series of well-established conventions and doctrines concerning the conduct of war. Chief among those would be that if you start a war and lose, bad things accrue to you which are irreversible. (To say nothing of six wars.) When is enough enough? Israel will not make any more territorial concessions. And the Europeans in PARTICULAR have no right to demand it of Israel. But I tell you what. When Poland cedes East Prussia and the Polish Corridor back to Germany, we can revisit the subject of territorial concessions. Keeping in mind, of course, that the only sovereign entities that ever existed on Jewish soil were the Kingdom of Israel, the Kingdom of Judaea and the State of Israel. Your arguments are frequently quite silly, but you really outdid yourself this time, Bertie.
23. To: No. 17
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.14.14)
Sigh. Tell me, do you know the difference between Security Council resolutions passed under Chapter VI and those passed under Chapter VII? Look it up. It will be enlightening. There's quite a difference between the passage of a resolution which is nonbinding and unenforceable and one which is binding and enforceable. The United States will veto. Unless Obama wants to be impeached, that is -- and I don't think he wants to add that to his already questionable resume. Please do not forget that the president's powers as the chief executive do not extend to making weighty decisions without the advise and consent of the Senate. Obama lost the Senate on November4, remember? By the way -- you are batting a whopping .000 on your predictions concerning the Middle East. I'm surprised you haven't noticed.
24. To: No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.14.14)
Hey, sluggo, you are rather conveniently forgetting the fact that there are far too many elements among the Arabs that categorically refuse to accept a Jewish state in the Middle East. How do you propose to bridge that gulf? Israel does not have a credible peace partner. The Europeans -- no one, actually -- has the gravitas to force Israel into submission. It just cannot be done. But as natural gas supplants the world's reliance on Arab petroleum, look for the Arabs to sink back into the desert sands. And remember, too, who controls two of the largest natural gas fields ever discovered. And if you don't think that has an impact, keep in mind that state after state after state have taken steps to ban fracking. I'm sure that the United States will come to rely upon cheap natural gas from Israel. The Arabs really have nothing of value to offer the rest of the world. Israel sits astride three of the largest sources of fresh water in the Middle East, and all that natural gas. It's all over except for the shouting, dear.

27. Just dhimmis bowing down to Islamic psychopaths.
David ,   Hartford USA   (11.14.14)
A simply ploy by these countries with restless Muslims. "Look! We recognized Palestine! Don't go crazy here!" It won't work. Why? Because the Muslims don't really care about 'Palestine.' They care about spreading Islam by any way they can. Why are gang rapes of Nordic women at all-time highs? Because the stupid Nordic states allowed unfettered Muslim immigration and the horde hasn't assimilated one bit. Raping kuffir women is a grand pastime for Muslims. Sex slavery rings in Britain? Entire sections of France that cops are afraid to enter? British soldiers decapitated on the streets of England? An American Army doctor who slaughters 13 American soldiers on their own army base? These are all actions of Islamic psychopaths fulfilling the words of the Quran. Attacks on Canadian soldiers and American police? Just more Muslim soldiers fighting to spread Islam around the world. Israel can take care of itself. It can build the wall and keep the horde at bay. England, France, and all those other misguided countries that are bending over backwards to appease their Muslim populations will find out that their efforts have been in vain- jihad in Europe is just beginning, and what happens in Israel has nothing to do with the misery Europe will be experiencing courtesy of their Muslim immigrants. When there's a fight between civilization and psychopaths, side with the civilized, please?
28. #19 Europe also has stagnated economies
A ,   Belgium   (11.14.14)
resulting in high unemployment, social unrest, and an aging workforce that can't compete with Asia. Europe is FAR from "very rich".
29. 15 Cant argue with your comments
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (11.14.14)
Yes there are extremists on both sides But thats not is what is stifling negotiations The trouble is that Palestinian Leadership have NO NOTION about the way forward to Statehood Is it 2 State, 3 State, 1999 Plan...there is no concencus whatsoever even within the PA and meanwhile as the shilly shally vaccillation continues and we have nothing to negotiate - Abbas will persist with simply ducking and diving till retirement. Why should he take the can for such a fundamental decision. Tragic isnt it? Because what he SHOULD be doing is putting all the options clearly and transparently to Palestinians in a referendum and let US decide
