The airforce takes for granted they get most of the budget and they just want the shiniest & newest and do not always think abut WHAT DO WE NEED? They just canceled plans to buy the V22 Osprey angering the US but it was the right move because Israel doesn't need V22 it better off with cheaper heavy lift helicopters. Rather than buying any F35s as a stop gap we should have bought the stealthy F15. Its not true stealth jet like F35 but until F35 had matures and come down in price F15 would have been better value for money & fewer US strings attached.

then buy more with the savings but of course we're not going to make UF/B-35(or a F35 capable drone) because we can't make enough money on those, have to figure. I'm about money, making it and keeping it, as much as any other human out here but I prefer good products without usury if I can get 'em.
5. good decision

the plane has too many strings attached to it to justify the extremely high price.
6. Israel will never be free.....

of it bonds from the U.S. until it becomes free from U.S. military aid. Israel certainly has the brains, manufacturing ability and probably finances to at least begin to go it alone in developing it's own planes and munitions including block buster bombs. But is seems Israel's leaders have no will to do so.
7. #6--Israel and the U.S. are
arne ,   chicago usa   (11.17.14)
bound at the hip--they are like cousins that have disagreements and a need for one another--It's a great relationship, one that's very special and also very necessary.
8. Who needs the 10-15, the initial 20 are enough
Roberto ,   Montreal   (11.17.14)
The planes are slow, not made for dogfighting. They can't carry very heavy payloads. They are not only expensive to buy but also very expensive to maintain. The stealth capability is only an asset now, but will it be in the future? Could technology improvements to radar systems be sufficient in the near future to void the stealth technology. The planes are not even in service, so why bet everything Israel ha to buy these unproven white elephants. Don't buy it!!
9. #6 you call this "aid"?

How is US helping Israel? It is the other way around. US needs to offload their overpriced trash aka V22 so they go looking for shekels. Dumping that purchase was the best decision in a long time. ANYONE buying an albatross like that is only giving welfare to the US. Paying $150 million for F35 is welfare for US too, especially when you can buy SU 35 for *half* of the price. Buying the PAK-FA is the PROPER response, considering Obama's ignorant arms embargo against Israel from the day he took office until this year when the banks finally started complaining about the lack of extortion money being paid by IDF/IAF.
