1. land on earth, please!
Lars   (11.24.14)
the writer of this article has it all wrong! the world today does NOT recognize Israel as a Jewish Nation State. To the world & unfortunately many ignorant Jews, Judaism is a religion; not a nation. The Jews as a religion have no right to a State. That makes perfect sense. We must declare to the world that WE ARE NOT A RELGION. WE ARE A NATION! A STRONG WAY TO DO THIS IS TO ENACT THE NATION LAW. THIS WILL SEND A MESSAGE TO THE WORLD, THAT WE ARE NOT A RELIGION, BUT A NATION.
2. Delegitimizing "Israel"
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (11.24.14)
How can one delegitimize that which never was legitimate in the first place?
3. Most Israelis are too smart to cater to Israel haters
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.24.14)
BDSers are hard core Jew haters, like Nazis. They will hate Israel and Jews no matter what Israel does or does not do. Most Israelis, unlike the author of this pathetic drivel, are too smart to cater to Israel haters. This land is ours and we don't care less what Israel haters say.
4. State of Israel - will not be accepted by the World
Tova ,   Canada   (11.24.14)
Western Nations used to be identified as Judeo-Christians. They were the majority. Jews wil always be the minority. Now the the world is global - Islamic, Oriental, Asian people cover every country in the world and are larger in population that Judeo-Christian Populations. Natenyahu is correct, however this will not any difference since the Nations no longer represent democratic nations. Those days are gone. Israel will continue to have less and less support as the years go by. I agree with Netanyahu - however the progranda against Israel will continue. It's unfortunate the Hassidic Community does not accept Israel. They to are the problem. Their waiting for the Messiah - and they don't even understand or appreciate GOD already gave us the Land - The Messiah will come - when Armageddon comes.
5. NEWSFLASH :
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS ,   SAFED OBVIOUS   (11.24.14)
israels' "Haters " already hate us ,so why worry about offending these haters?
6. EARTH TO BEN-DROR YEMINI
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS ,   SAFED OBVIOUS   (11.24.14)
I ,like millions of jews ,did not leave a comfortable life and make aliyah in order to live in a " Democracy " we came here only because we want to live in A JEWISH COUNTRY . Democracy Shemocracy ...pffft
7. because we are correct and not court jews.
ralph   (11.24.14)
8. Right is nationalistic. It wants definition as Jewish state
Sam ,   Canada   (11.24.14)
The Left is more focused on being a part of everybody. It's embarrassed by being singled out as a Jewish state. What the "Jewish state" does do is send a message to the Palestinians that the Jews of Israel are not running away. They are not going to hand over the country to the Palestinians which is what they are waiting for. Israel is a country with a Jewish character and it is there to stay.
9. Netanyahu
Harold ,   USA   (11.24.14)
This guy spreads war rumors, warning powerful countries, threatening others, killing innocent Palestinians but he cannot walk freely on the streets of his own country.
10. The value of the bill
Moshe ,   Israel   (11.24.14)
Israel's main political problem is the conflict with the Palestinians. It fuels the hostility of the Muslim world and a chunk of the western public opinion. The Israelis already know that their country is a Jewish one. But the Palestinian leadership, despite the local Basic Laws and UN recognition of Israel as a Jewish State, has proclaimed several times that they would never recognize Israel as such. And this refusal, explained primarily that Judaism is merely a religion and not a people, is the core of the confrontation – They don't want here a jEWISH NATIONAL entity. Perhaps they will agree to a temporary bi-national state through "the right of return". Thus, the bill lays down the foundation for any possible future peace treaty with the Pals.
11. Well focused analysis as usual Ben Dror.
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (11.24.14)
12. JUST A REMINDER, MR. YEMINI.
FO ,   Belgium   (11.24.14)
You seem to attach much importance to the United Nations Partition Plan of November 29, 1947! May I remind you, that this partition plan was just a proposal, and that all UNGA resolutions are just and always proposals and never binding ones? You add that the UN mentioned the term "Jewish state" 29 times, and may I add that a "Palestinian state" was never mentioned, but an Arab one. And to conclude, may I remind you, Mr. Yemini, that the only binding resolution for the creation of a Jewish state, was taken at the San Remo Conference in .... 1920, in a spirit of decolonization taken by the American President Woodrow Wilson? And that it got its legal form by the League of Nations in 1922, together with two new states, Arab state, Syria-Lebanon and Iraq?
13. Why oh why
Jez ,   Netanya   (11.24.14)
The answer is simple. Netanyahu and friends could not care less about Israel or its future. They care more about the perks of power - double beds on planes with wife, private plane, taking sons around the world to meet world leaders. This man has done nothing good for the past 5 years. Let Bennet complete the catastrophy and then after many are dead the nation will return to its senses and realise it is but one country among 200 odd and needs to think about how it is going to fit into the middle east. It might be hard especially now but that is what the good Lord gave us brains for.
14. delegitimization
(11.24.14)
Straw man. No Zionist, certainly not Netanyahu and his Ministers think that the bill will increase Israel's delegitimization. Yemini maybe thinks so, but where was he when far worse delegitimization happened? The Oslo Accords, Rabin, Peres, Barak and Olmert's negotiations with PLO. Sharon's ethnic cleaning of Gush Katif? The Olive Tree cutting and "Price Tag" blood libels? Sabra and Shatilla? A-Dura? Attacks on Israel's right to pray at Temple Mount or live in Shiloah? The fact is that the Israeli Left is responsible for 95% of Israel's delegitimization.
15. #8 not accurate
(11.25.14)
You apparently don't realize that this law is identical to one drafted and proposed in the previous Knesset by Leftist Avi Dichter and sponsored by Kadima under Livni and by Labor. I don't know about Canada, but in Israel the Left is not focused on being part of everybody but grabbing power to enrich themselves.
16. no 10
claus ,   jerusalem   (11.25.14)
israels main problem is not the conflict with palestians but th lack of political will and vision how to solve this conflict. The political motivated steps behind the "nation bill" are an expression of fear and insecurity. It reminds one of moves like victor orban in hungary or the "reichsgesetze" of germany trying to empower parliament to get rid of communists. As an israeli and "goy" i am getting very worried. Maybe time is coming to pack, take my jewish wife and kids and move to ???? Berin?
