1. Jerusalem is mentioned in the Quran
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.28.14)
like Avraham bringing Yishmael to Akeidat Yishmael (the binding of Yishmael) is mentioned in the Quran.
2. Ghetto mentality of Ynet
Sidney ,   USA   (11.28.14)
Why is stating a simple fact "explosive". And why did somebody in the IDF apologize for the truth?
3. Chief IDF Rabbi is simply correct
(11.28.14)
there is no mention of jerusalem in the koran. muslims pray facing mecca, with their backs to the temple mount. furthermore, they hold picnics on the temple mount and play football on the temple mount. the temple mount cannot be holy to the muslims since the advent of islam came about fifteen hundred years after the construction of the first temple and the temple mount.
4. Stop it, Tzahal!
Devorah   (11.28.14)
Stop appeasing our enemy! The truth never requires an apology.
5. right
rm ,   NL Amsterdam   (11.28.14)
So what would you say if a prominent Imam would declare that Muslims know judaism better than the Jews do? It would cause uproar that's what. So this statement is insulting...although it perfectly fits the current uber-arrogant attitude of Israel
6. Show me Jerusalem mentioned by Moses in Torah
Onas   (11.28.14)
7. Of course Jerusalem is not mentioned
Emi Boomstooppoop ,   USA   (11.28.14)
And even if it were, so what? This book is like the so called book of mormon or pearl of great price or the apocrypha. These are but books of men & nothing more. And millions are being duped by this trash.
8. I quote the late great George Carlin
Sagi   (11.28.14)
"My God has a bigger dick than your God". These few words adequately sum up the religion known as Islam. Not only is Jerusalem holy to them, Paris, London, NY, the universe, the planets, the cosmos, the whole kit and caboodle. Only when this fact is admitted by all and sundry, only when we extricate ourselves from the state of denial that we are in because of what is termed political correctness, shall we be able to confront this global problem, tackle it, confront it and overcome it. Until that day comes we shall continue to suffer the growing problem. It will not go away until we openly recognize it.
9. Joel 3:16-17
US citizen ,   US   (11.28.14)
16 The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. 17 So shall ye know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
10. Rabbi Peretz
(11.28.14)
To Muslims, the Quran is holy and every word is holy. The Prophet wrote down what was dictated to him. The slightest deletion or addition is an act of grave blasphemy that deserves only one punishment. The current Wakf attitude to the Temple Mount is wrong: the Prophet himself demanded respect for Torah and for the Jewish prophets including Daoud and Suleiman. It is sad but true that there are Muslims, like Mahmoud Abbas and the Wakf, who know less than the learned Rabbi Peretz.
11. For whom is the chief rabbi of the IDF writing this?
Joseph Katz ,   Jerusalem Israel   (11.28.14)
Arguments like "Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Quran" may be good for yeshiva boys. They are not good enough for grown ups. Who cares! For all sort of reasons in the last 65 years of our State being here, Jerusalem has become of paramount importance to Muslims. So Mister Chief Rabbi, do you think that whether Jerusalem is mentioned or not in the Quran makes any difference? May be you will grow up some day and come by with a better argument to make us belief that the Jews are right and the Muslims are wrong. They are of course both in God's business and therefore surely both are wrong. Which will not stop blood from flowing for the most absurd reasons. G-d forbid.

"Uber-arrogant?" The Netherlands can lay claim to the dubious distinction of being the most ardent Nazi supporters and collaborators. We haven't forgotten that debt, chico. Whatever will you do should a certain country -- doesn't matter which -- torpedo the gates that hold back the North Sea? I'll tell you what you'll do. You'll drown. So shut up. As far as the Jewish people are concerned, with very, very few exceptions, the Dutch are Nazis. We have long memories. Best keep that in mind, at least until the North Sea sweeps you away. Which might happen considerably sooner than you think.

Jerusalem would not have been mentioned by Moses. Moses walked this earth approximately 3,500 years ago. Jerusalem, which is King David's City, has been a Jewish city for a little over 3,000 years. There are several thousand references to Jerusalem in the Old Testament (the Jewish Bible) alone. Mind showing me where in the Qu'uran Jerusalem is mentioned? By the way, you would do well to remember that while Moses gave the Jewish people (and the rest of the world) the Torah, your forebears were swinging from trees, painting their faces blue, and howling at the moon. (In fact, many of your people continue to do that to this day.) So no more snarky, uninformed comments from you, please. You don't have the intellectual wherewithal to do anything but make a complete, braying jackass of yourself.

"The original name of Jerusalem was Babylonian, Uru-Salim, "the city of Salim," shortened into Salem in Gen 14:18 and in the inscriptions of the Egyptian kings Ramses II and Ramses III. In the Tell el-Amarna Letters (1400 BC) Jerusalem is still known as Uru-Salim, and its king bears a Hittite name, implying that it was at the time in the possession of the Hittites." You have surpassed yourself today by enhancing your usual eloquence. Please read my response which defines the actual problem and presents the first stepping stone on a long journey. The problem of the arrogant imposition of Islam on others and its overall superiority can only be tackled when recognition is declared and denial is buried.

You don't know anything about the Bible, do you? And you clearly don't know the Hebrew meaning of "kill" in Aseret haD'varim. This can be a tough crowd, so it's best you know what you're talking about before posting.
22. #15, Jerusalem was named 400 before Babylon Empire
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (11.28.14)
At the time Jerusalem was named as such Jews had not been to Babylon, Babylon Empire didn't conquer it because it did not exist and Babylon was a tiny unimportant village. The Hittites origin is from Asia Minor, Turkey today, and had no connection to Babylon other than conquering it at some moment in history. The corruption of foreign names in archeological findings is a well known phenomenon. You and your Internet source are severely deluded.

muslims lay claim to jerusalem based on islam. the ayatollahs in iran are not claiming ramallah, or bethlehem, but jerusalem. since there is no mention in the koran of jerusalem, it is difficult to justify the muslim religiously based claim to jerusalem. blood has been flowing precisely because muslims claim all the land of israel as a religious waqf. conquering muslims had built a mosque on top of the ruins of the jewish temples as a sign of conquest and of religious superiority.
25. To: Sagi at No. 8 and No. 20
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (11.29.14)
Love the post at No. 8, and thank you for the post at No. 20. Their "god," whose earthly representative was Mohammed, probably couldn't have competed in George Carlin's representation. We all know, after all, that Mohammed's predilection was decidedly for little girls. His favorite "wife," after all, was a six-year old girl. Size probably doesn't matter all that much when the object one's affection is a six-year old child. Islam's divine messenger on earth was a paedophile. Normal societies tend to arrest (and execute) such "prophets." Islam is a gutter cult. All that Mohammedan nonsense about jihad, and slaying the infidel (by which they mean everyone who isn't exactly like them) has a rather easy psychological track. It's called compensation. The Islamic "god" and his messenger clearly have issues concerning size. It's evident throughout their "holy book." I guess size does matter. It would appear that a significant lacking in that regard matters even more. It also explains the gross subjugation of women in every Islamic society. Feelings of low self-worth. Enhanced by unhappy wives (adult ones). Thank you again; both posts.
26. How can the truth be 'explosive?'
David ,   Hartford USA   (11.29.14)
What kind of crazy headline is that? Everyone who has ever read the Quran knows that Jerusalem is not mentioned in it even once. The 'Third Holiest Site in Islam' was just a buzz-line made up by the Arabs to try to find a way to dis-possess the Jews from their city. In Mecca, hundred of ancient holy sites have been bulldozed into dust so that hotels and businesses could be constructed. Did the world scream about it? Not a word. Did the Muslims become psychopaths due to it? Nope! It seems that holy sites in the holy city of Mecca can be torn down at will if somebody can make a dinar off it. Certainly those sites had more a connection to Islam and Mohammad than anything in Jerusalem. If Israel dismantled the Temple Mount structures and shipped them to Jordan, everyone would be better off.

The actual commandment says 'thou shalt not murder it does not say, 'kill'. Two words with two different meanings.. Murder is described as 'malice a forethought' kill, as in self defense or accident.
