HUGE political and especially moral mistake on part of US!
2. US will not support resolution, but

obama has not said that he will veto it. if obama were wise, he would remind the so called international community that unscr 242 is the proper basis for resolving the conflict. obama had prayed for wisdom at the kotel during the 2008 campaign.
3. #2 UNSCR 242 can easily be changed

or eliminated by the current UN security council anytime they want by a simple vote. No resolution is cast permanently in concrete. ***ALL*** international agreements are temporary and subject to change any time one or more of the parties decides to change them. During he 200 years the USA has existed, it has simply walked away from virtually all the agreements it has made after a period of time - every country on earth has done the same thing (including Israel thousands of times). The ONLY international agreements that last more than a few seconds are ones where ALL parties have a vested interest in keeping the agreement in place. This is why Israel has a doubtful future because Israel wants to brutally lord over its opponents, instead of looking for a mutually beneficial agreement.

a unscr is not an agreement. it is a resolution, something that is resolved by the security council. if the security council decided by a majority vote, without any veto, that unscr is no longer valid, it could do so. however, no party can simply claim that the resolution is no longer applicable.
