To the many poor and hungry in Israel instead?
2. Help Israeli Poor
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (12.22.14)
This money would be better spent helping the Israeli poor. As rich as the Jewish people are, the extent of poverty in Israel is unacceptable.
3. Talkbacks 1, 2 are correct: help the poor instead!
Rafi ,   US   (12.22.14)
Meanwhile, after unsuccessfully trying to sway US elections with his $ millions, casino-mogul Sheldon Adelson will now try to sway Israeli elections toward his favorite, B. Netanyahu & company...
4. Shame on them for taking money away from American poor.
Michael ,   California, USA   (12.22.14)
Shame on them for betraying Israel in favor of American influence from rich. For sure, the recipients did not check how those rich made their money in America. Betrayal is betrayal, fifth column is fifth column, selling out is shameful.
5. so what; nor are these "hefty" contributions

israelis should worry much more about interference in the elections by foreign governments.

Would it surprise you to learn that the tiny percentage of Jews that live in the United States give more annually to Jewish philanthropies than ALL Americans give to the American Cancer Society? The best way for Israel to take care of poverty among Jews in Israel is to cut off the tens of billions of shekels Israel spends annually on taking care of the needs of Gaza (isn't that Hamas' responsibility?) and succoring that endless well of need which are the illegal Africans (isn't that the responsibility of the United Nations?)? End supporting the freeloaders, and no Israeli will go hungry or have to choose between food and life-sustaining medicine in any given month. Don't worry -- I'm not unreasonable. The Neturei Karta and the Satmar are VERY high on my list of whom Israel should cut off.

Are you talking about the United States? Or are you talking about Israel? Bit unclear. So I'll tackle it on both assumptions. First of all, we do donate money to certain Israeli politicians who espouse my political view. Those donations are not tax-deductible. We also support organizations who help Israeli poor to the tune of seven figures annually. Except "Israeli poor" has magically come to mean the freeloading African illegals and the terrorist rabble in Gaza. Which is why I am heartily willing to support Israeli politicians who espouse my political views. Nothing illegal about that; not in the United States, and very definitely not in Israel. So -- what's your point?
