1. What were American security doing there?
David ,   Shiloh Israel   (01.02.15)
2. the Americans see Israel as a Republic Banana
JJJ   (01.02.15)
It is a clear America provocation! the Americans went to an Israeli settlement together with a group of Palestinians, We talk about Palestinians that stone, fire bombes, or try to kill every Israeli they have a chance to harm. The Americans knew it is a provocation. The settlers should have not resort to throwing stones, instead take pictures and insist that the foreign ministry file a complaint. But again, the Americans see Israel as a Republic Banana, and Israel is, you want prove? Tzipi Livni and her comrades
3. the "ugly American" persona lives on
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (01.02.15)
Several of the typical "ugly American" supercilious comments above speak of the "millions" of dollars of American taxpayers monies given to Israel. Oh? Israel with its massive GNP can easily do without it - but the US finds this a convenient way to support its own military industrial complex and at the same time have access to all of Israel's advanced state-of-the-art electronic and military hardware. And, BTW, unlike in Korea, Vietnam. Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and wherever else, the Israelis always fought their own wars without the Americans.
4. US Presence
Joe ,   Burgaw NC   (01.02.15)
Because the US pays the bills for Israel.
5. Security draws weapon
Joe Average ,   dallas usa   (01.02.15)
police have to watch looters burn cities but security draws m16 on rock thrower?
6. To nr. 1.
Sjoerd van der Velde ,   Hoorn, Holland   (01.02.15)
In this/that case, you are completely and absolutely right, at my opinion. American security has a job/duty to do within their own U.S., American, national territory and leave Israel to the Jewish and Israeli people. Even the United Nations Organization knew/knows that. ALSO, ISRAEL, FOREVER AND ALWAYS!
7. Oh my
James ,   USA   (01.02.15)
Oh, those lovable settlers again and their crazy antics! Funny, it's a "terror attack" when Palestinians throw stones...but what about when settlers do it? Of course they won't be appropriately punished...
8. Obama Thugs
Brod ,   USA   (01.02.15)
Israel should kick out Obama thugs pointing their guns at Israelis. They have no business disrespecting Israel's sovereignty. And they have no business coddling with Israel's enemies-PA Islamist-Jihadist Terrorists.
9. Blackwater-Xe
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (01.02.15)
Time to replace the US Diplomatic Security Service with Blackwater-Xe personnel.
10. Obama should call in Israeli Ambassador
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (01.02.15)
Obama should be demanding the offending settlers be arrested and extradited to the US for trial. They are little different from those who took the eheran Embassy in 1979.
11. Israel is the sovereign power in the area
Joe Fraser ,   Montreal   (01.02.15)
Joseph Williams, #1 US billions go right back to US military contractors like lockheed martin. #2 The US supports Israel militarily because it is their only reliable partner in the region, and it gives you the largest permanent aircraft carrier in the Middle East. #3 How would you like an armed Israeli convoy going into Crown Heights to investigate supposed violence against Jews? Could they draw their weapons in the middle of Brooklyn? If that happened, what do you think the American response would be?
12. I am in shock
Sarah B. ,   USA/ISRAEL   (01.02.15)
Awful. When will this have an end? I hope now Americans, like myself, can finally wake up and come to their senses. Time to uproot all settlements and grant Palestine their State. I hope more Americans can feel with their own skin the reality on the ground. Good neighbours need good fences.
13. Lucky Settlers
Ryan Laskowski ,   Columbus, USA   (01.02.15)
The settlers who threw stones are lucky the USA didn't respond like the IDF. We know what happens to Palestinians who throw stones, after all.
14. If Every Stone Thrown by Arabs where documented
MadDad ,   Johannesburg RDA   (01.03.15)
Its quite uncanny that this incident of stone throwing makes headline news. How many millions of stones have been thrown at Israeli vehicles in this part of the world?
15. Really? US investigating uprooted olive tree seedlings?
Cynic ,   USA   (01.02.15)
In the meantime there are violent protests occurring throughout the United States with police being shot.
16. oh really?
orly ,   nyc   (01.02.15)
i assume israel soldiers were promptly shot dead those people who were trying to murder those americans? or is throwing stones only a reason to kill Palestinians?
17. Americans shouldn't have shown their guns at unarmed protest
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (01.02.15)
They should have used restrained proportional reply in front of innocent civilians,
18. American Arab settlers must immediately evacuate Jewish land
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (01.02.15)
19. US Consulate acted outside its authority
C   (01.02.15)
any foreign embassy or consulate in the host country is considered as foreign soil and its diplomats as foreigners. diplomats are not allowed to act in any capacity of military or police men under any circumstances outside embassies or consulates proper. they are not allowed to carry weapons. such rules of international law can be broken only with permission of the host country. in this case, the us diplomats went to investigate an incident on territory in which they have no legal authority to do so, and they went there armed. the us diplomats did not ask permission from israeli authorities to investigate any incident. us diplomats clearly violated international law. it is obvious that they acted in such manner because they think they are free to violate israeli sovereignty. in any other sovereign they would be expelled.
20. "Diplomats"
Raphael ,   Netanya   (01.02.15)
Reminds me the attempt of a bogus french humanrights french diplomat to stir up a hoaxed confrontation in the jordan valley
21. FB Joseph Williams
A ,   Belgium   (01.02.15)
Doesn't seem to bother you that the US is giving the terrorist "palestinian" authority an annual handout of $500 MILLION, or the Hashemite occupier of Jordan/"palestine" ("$3.3 billion in aid over the previous five years") or the unstable government of Egypt $1.5 BILLION annually. You're nothing but a hypocrite.
22. Yankee Go Home.. or else
lucifer69   (01.03.15)
23. Stone-throwing can impair or even kill a person
N ,   N   (01.02.15)
Defending it is insane!
24. #1
Daniel   (01.02.15)
US personnel usually has military protection when travelling in areas inhabited by fanatic religious nationalists. They may call themselves the Taliban, ISIS or the settler movement but they are pretty much all the same. All of them think G-d is "only" on their side, all of them think infidels are inferior, all of them think it's justified to use violence against anyone who disagrees.
25. funny
(01.02.15)
Hundreds of innocent Jews travelling in civilian cars are pelted with rocks, Kerry/Obama call it "protest" and the newspapers don't report it. If a Jew dared defend himself, he would be jailed. When some Americans travelling in armored vehicles are hit with some rocks, they don't stay in the car or call the police, they jump out planning to use deadly force even when there is no danger of even slight injury.
26. To Juseph Williams
Steven ,   Rockville MD USA   (01.02.15)
I do not want to diminish the US aid to Israel, but it is less than 3% of the annual expenditure of Israel. It does not give the right to bear arms in a sovereign country, and to be the judge for the Pal's complains. For that, there a the Israeli Ministry of Justice. US is giving financial aid to many countries, but can the US consulate in those countries carry guns, and dispense justice? No way. Nobody knows what happened, what made the locals to throw rocks (wrongly I should say). I should also add, that many employees of the US Consulate in Jerusalem (both in East and West Jerusalem) are Palestinian Arabs, who are for sure not neutral observers. Please keep your cool, this incident is not against the US or her people, and do not rush to dispense blame, unless you are expressing your preformed views about the Israelis and ready to jump on them at this and at any occasion. In that case, do not expect any kind repost .
27. Ahhh! The pungent scent of Agents
Gideon Reed ,   USA   (01.02.15)
Provocateur hard at work. Everyone is fully aware that the U.S.consulate is an antagonistic entity; just shy of being openly hostile towards the duly constituted and democratically elected government of Israel, and especially towards those citizens of Israel so called settlers.. The long and checkered history of the "USConsulate" vis a vis the political "right" of Israel is more than well known. Either they play by the rules of they get spanked.
28. To No. 1 - No More Benghazis
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (01.03.15)
If terrorists attack, they will pay a price.
29. Hmm... Americans never show up when Jews are butchered......
amal   (01.03.15)
