Gosh. Their lives and wellbeing and that of their families versus staying in "liberal" France. Tough decision for a liberal Jew. Can you fix stupid?
2. What most Jews don't realize is that Jewish life in the

galut has a definite self life. It usually expires through assimilation, destruction and of late emigration. Israel is the only home, future and be all for the Jewish people. Those who pine otherwise are simply deluding themselves.

Liberals will , sadly , learn the hard way that there is a grim future ahead in France. Jews are defenceless and easy targets there.

minit". Israels is here only for the 60+ years. We had to do with whatever we were offered anywhere else for couple of thousands of years. Don't you think we've developed some strong bonds with the various places in the "gola"? Getting up & "going West" is easy when you're twenty, single & male :-)). Not so when your prospects of finding meaningful work/job in the Promised Land are not so "promising", because you're 40 and over the hill? Don't be too Holy, my brother.
7. French Jews are traditionalists and zionists
Dr Daniel Mostrel ,   Paris   (01.15.15)
Liberal Jews in Paris are less than 10% most of them with intermarriage More than half of French Jews think to leave France and just try to find a way to Israel French Jews are closed to Israel because they have all parents in Israel and fed up with the leftist propaganda Am Israel hai

It's not just about religion. It's the mindset of Europe vs Middle East. It's good food with endless amazing choices vs lousy food with few choices (both supermarkets and restaurants). It's an easy lifestyle vs tough one at exhorbitant prices to maintain a much lower standard of living. It's a great climate with four seasons vs a steaming hot and humid place most of the year. To quote Goldie Hawn in Private Benjamin when offered a "job" with the military in the Caribbean, "No, my hair will frizz." I won't even go into the lack of civil rights and the power and dictates of the religious right in Israel. Liberal, assimilated Jews do not want to live under such stringent edicts. For liberals, religion is way down on the list. As I write this, I bet many have already started looking for new jobs in Montreal, a little bit of Europe in North America.
9. iselin on climate and other charms of Europe
jd   (01.15.15)
The climate advantages of Europe over Israel would sound more convincing if written from Nice not Oslo. :) Never mind Montreal on that. If you check GDP per capita, you would find that, while the best of Europe (like Germany and especially Norway and Switzerland) is doing well, Israel is not doing badly: beats both France and the EU average. Liberal Jews are doing fine in Tel Aviv. In the end, European Jews are free to decide where to be and what it means to be Jewish. You should see what the French have done with Israeli real estate prices.
