1. peace plan cannot deliver demilitirization
zechariah   (01.26.15)
it will be impossible to verify demilitirization if the arabs get more than even 50% OF Judea and Samaria as Gaza has revealed. Its small space is a powder keg of tunnels booby traps and attack rockets in large numbers .the Jews are too divided on security fear and attatchment to the Land to allow sweeping changes as are the Islamists and Fatah .and with ISIS and Iran and now Yemen its for now irredeemable .
2. Saudi "Peace" is a hoax and a fraud...here's why
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (01.26.15)
Advocates of the "Saudi Plan" always gloss over one central detail...it does not give Israel "normalized" relations with any state, but rather its precise opposite. It is based on "group" diplomatic relations with the Arab League, rather than with 23 individual states, in the "normal" way. That's why its total crap!!! And more to the point, land-for-peace itself has been proven to be worthless by the behavior of Egypt and Jordan...as soon as they got "every square inch" of land back, they shut the embassies and pulled the ambassadors, cheating Israel out of the Total Peace they paid for. And Egypt, by violating the demilitarized status of Sinai to smuggle thousands of tons of Iiranian arms and missiles to Gazastan, did more damage to Israel than they ever did from the 1967 lines!!!! The proven fact is that giving up land for peace with Egypt, Jordan, Gaza and Lebanon has produced less peace and less security for Israel. More proof...the most peaceful secure border in Israels history is the annexed Golan. What idiot thinks a piece of paper signed by the genocidal Assad would be worth more?
3. Is this a joke?
Marc Jerzey ,   Israel   (01.26.15)
anyone who would quote Thomas Friedman can't be serious. Also the fact that Simon Peres agreed with something is only testimony that there was some type of prize he could put on his shelf. Peace Initiative? Seriously? I guess living in the bubble of obama has distorted a rational thought process.
4. Bury the plan with the king !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (01.26.15)
It was a bad one...
5. "Complete honesty" - yes please
Shalom ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.26.15)
A completely honest article would distinguish clearly between: 1) the original Saudi-Friedman idea, 2) the Beirut Arab summit plan, 3) the Geneva Initiative. The first demanded a total Israeli withdrawal, including the removal of half the present Jewish population of Jerusalem. The second added the "right of return." Obviously, neither of these is remotely acceptable to the vast majority of Israelis. The Geneva Initiative attempted to paper over those problems with vague language, but the resulting text was not accepted by a single Arab government, in particular not by the Saudis. Complete honesty requires recognition that all three proposals are long dead.
6. Saudi plan not basis for negotiation as Leftists make it.
Sam ,   Canada   (01.26.15)
Leftists are looking for something that says the Arabs want peace so they take the Saudi plan and make into something that suits themselves. The Saudi plan is not the basis for negotiations, as leftists would have it. It's a non-negotiable plan. While the refugee issue is supposed to be something Israel agrees to, in reality Palestinians demand a right of return and Palestinian leaders sat they cannot take that right away from Palestinians. So, the plan is no plan. It's just the Arabs doing public relations with the West trying to get the West to force concessions on Israel.
7. Even in pre-elections time:how can anyone write such nonsene
(01.26.15)
8. the peace plan died with the concept of a palestinian state
Scott ,   Ramat Gan   (01.26.15)
Much has changed since the peace plan was introduced. There are no stable regimes in the Mideast any more & no state is immune from being taken over by Islamists like Yemen or Iraq. There was no IS in 2002 & it has now become clear even to leftists that Abbas is not interested in peace. The thinking that there are only 2 options has to change. There are other solutions such as autonomy or a confederation with Jordan.
9. What about the "quasi-governments": Hezbola, ISIS, HAMA
Ed Stack   (01.26.15)
Such a long list of entities that do not agree with their governements and in fact do not agree to be governed
10. no one wants peace but justice in fact.
atilla karagözoğlu   (01.26.15)
11. Perry doesn't get it
(01.26.15)
The Saudi peace plan is the PLO plan: - ethnically pure Arab state in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem. - surrender of Golan to "nerve gas" - Assad - massive ethnic cleansing of Jews (including Gilo, Katamon, French Hill, and Mount Scopus) - prohibition of Jewish visits to holy sites in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria - free and unlimited Arab immigration into what is left of Israel. It is strange that Perry or any woman would support a plan put forth by Saudi Arabia, a country where women are devoid of rights and more than half the population are slaves. It is strange that Perry, as an Israeli, would support such a plan when it is clearly suicidal.
12. Arab 'Peace' plan not really still alive.
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.26.15)
More accurately, its undead. And it's not a Peace Plan, its a suicide pill. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
13. saudi peace plan
harvey gefen ,   toronto can.   (01.26.15)
this " peace plan" is not one to live by but one to die for. just the 5-6 m. refugees would completely destroy the fabric of any jewish society. the koran dictates a muslim can sign a written peace treaty w/ any infidel for a religious purpose of conquering or reconquering land and break it at any time. furthermore any land conquered by islam and then lost must be re-taken by any means including jihad. examples of this include mohammed losing a battle to the quereish .he then signs a 10 yr, peace treaty and when he regains strength tears up the treaty and destroys the enemy. another ex, is saladin making a peace treaty w/richard the lion -hearted and then tearing it up and attacking. beware of muslims making deals to recognize a jewish state which is prohibited in the koran.
14. lan only sort of alive.
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (01.26.15)
15. This phony "peace plan" lives in minds of far left lunatics
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.27.15)
The phony Saudi "peace plan", based on Israel committing suicide in stages, lives only in the empty minds of far left lunatics like the author of this trash.
16. #10, Yes Attila. Justice for Kurds, Greek, Cyprus, Armenians
