3. 11 children !!!!!!!!!!
(02.03.15)
are they aiming to singlehandedly repopulate that country with Jews?
4. n°1 misses the point
Julien ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (02.03.15)
If the municipality has lost 2 legal procedures, this probably means the established law is NOT breached. In this case, it seems that the kitchen is being built around them, not that they stepped in it.
5. And what wil the parents teach them?
Avi ,   NYC, USA   (02.03.15)
The racist teachings of Chabad that Goyim are less than Jews? The Talmudic phrase about what should be done even to "the best of the Gentiles" (Tractate Sofrim)? If the parents disagree with Swedish law they can move to Israel or to Brooklyn.
6. Religion must be taught AFTER a day with normal education.
Michael ,   California, USA   (02.03.15)
Religious education is not normal education, it is an ideology, perhaps philosophy? Like teaching cooking or teaching bunjee jumping. The Swedish are correct in trying to rescue those 11 children from harm in the hands of their brainwashed parents. Those children must be prepared for normal life, for coexistence in a normal society with normal people.
7. Education in any civilised country

is mandatory. Wether in public or private school. If you decide not to send your children to school you are liable to prosecution. They should have thought about that before. They can always teach them Judaism on Shabbat when there are no classes. Christians have Sunday school Jews can have Shabbat school.

reply to Avi #5 They teach how to keep judaism and to know how to answer to another jew if he speak or think as a goy...

Igor ,   Germany   (02.03.15)
According to Wikipedia, homeschooling is illegal in Sweden and non-Jewish families have also been affected. So, either live in Sweden and do as Swedes do, or move to a another country, e.g. Israel.

13. Home schooling in Sweden
Lena ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (02.03.15)
Regarding the Chabad emissaries prevented from homeschooling their children in Sweden: Homeschooling is against the law in Sweden, not because of anti-religious sentiments, but in order to ensure that children partake in society and are not isolarted in environments that may be detrimental to them. Different countries take a different approach to this -- in Finland, for instance, homeschooling is permitted. But there is nothing stopping you from establishing a religious school in Sweden. And indeed, there is a Jewish school in the capitol, Stockholm.
14. Homeschooling
Aron ,   Bet Shemesh   (02.04.15)
I actually had the opportunity to be in Gothenburg last week and met with the Namdars the day of the court case. They are a wonderful family and work hard to provide additional Jewish services to Gothenburg. The city lost twice, but each new school year they can bring a new lawsuit, They will lose again for the same reasons, but in the meantime they are trying to wear the Namdars down. They have a snowball's chance in Purgatory. It is not illegal to homeschool in Sweden, it just requires extraordinary circumstances. The Christian community is very interested in this case since they too would like to be able to homeschool.
15. split: did you read #4 ? The law is on the side of Namdars
jd   (02.04.15)
Swedish law is whatever its court finds, not what you, split, think should be the law. The Swedish court has found twice in favor of this family, thus the family is acting in accordance with Swedish law, until found otherwise.

They will stay in that hot kitchen because they are making money moreover they don't want their 11 children to go to Israel and serve the IDF when their time comes. There are thousands of families left Israel for that reason too.
17. For once Sweden is right
Daniel   (02.12.15)
Let's get this straight: Sweden does not deny Jews to home-school children, it denies it to everybody. And rightly so. Children have the right to receive a full and complete education, not a limited education where parents can deny them from learning what other kids learn. Israel would benefit enormously by abandoning the Haredi-schools and instead implement a curriculum to make sure all kids get the same possibilities in life. 19/20 times Sweden is wrong. This one time they actually get it right.
18. teach at home kids to hate non-jews
Chris ,   Stuttgart Germany   (02.19.15)
this is the purpose of separating the children from the swedish society. The are Chabad, isn't it?
19. You Betcha!
A Simple Jew ,   Beer Sheva   (03.01.15)
Be fruitful and multiply! Go for 12, I say. Every Jewish child is a rebuke to the Nazis. We will not let him win.
20. Homeschooling by Chabad Family in Sweden
Efraim Carlsen ,   Boca Raton Florida   (05.07.20)
Attempts to deny the right of home schooling don’t even seem to pass muster in Sweden, hardly a bastion of religion. Religiously educating children in a Jewish environment makes for good Swedish citizens who will respect the law and fellow Swedes. Being Jewish doesn’t mean you are to consider yourself superior to non-Jews, just differently tasked by G-d, to follow the Torah. A basic tenet in Judaism is “the laws of the land apply to Jews and everyone else. The Rabbi’s children are being educated to be good Swedish citizens who happen to keep kosher!
